OF THE LATE JOHN THORP, Of Manchester, A MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL IN THE SOCIETY OF FRIENDS: TO WHICH IS PREFIXED, A MEMOIR OP THE LIFE OF THE WRITER. Jesus saith, I am the way, and the truth, and the life.—John xic. 6. Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost, that come Heb. vii. 23. Second Edition, with additions. MANCHESTER : PRINTED BY HENRY SMITH, ST. ANN'S.SQUARE. For John Bradshaw, Deansgate. LONDON ; WM, ALEXANDER & Son, YORK ; AND D. F. GARDINER, DUBLIN. The Letters of the late John Thorp having been several years out of print, and many applications being made for the work, it has been concluded to re-print them. In order to render the work more extensively useful, it is printed in demy 12mo. and at a lower price; it may be proper to remark that this edition contains four additional letters, and a Memoir of Joseph Harwood, formerly of Manchester, which it is hoped will prove acceptable. Manchester, 4th Mo, 9th, 1828. The private estimation in which the following Letters have been held, has induced the belief that, by publication, they would be rendered more extensively useful. They were not written with any view to their being committed to the press ; most of them, therefore, have been collected since the decease of the Writer, who very rarely kept copies of his letters ; and it may be proper to remark, that his own language has been strictly adhered to. |
