HYMN XXXV. Morning.

LORD GOD of my Salvation, I have cried day and night before Thee; O let my Prayer enter into thy Prefence, incline thine Ear unto my Cry. (P. lxxxviii.) 2. Doft Thou fhew Wonders among the dead? or fhall the dead rife up again and praife Thee?

3. Shall thy loving-Kindnefs be known in the Grave, or thy Faithfulness in Deftruction?

4. Shall thy wond'rous Works be fhewed in the dark, and thy Righteoufnefs be declared in the Land, where all Things are forgotten?

5. Unto Thee have I cried, O Lord; and early fhall my Prayer come before Thee.- -Bow Down thine Ear, O Lord, and hear me, for I am poor and in Misery. (Pf. lxxxvi.)

6. Preferve Thou my Soul, O my God; fave thy Servant, that putteth his Truft in Thee: be merciful unto me, O Lord, for I will call daily upon Thee.

7. Comfort the Soul of thy Servant, for unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my Soul: for Thou, Lord, art good and

gracious

gracious, and plenteous in Mercy, unto All them that call upon Thee.

8. Give Ear, Lord, unto my Prayer, and attend to the Voice of my Supplications.

9. In the time of my Trouble I will call upon Thee, for Thou hearest me.

10. Among the Gods there is None like unto Thee, O Lord; there is not One that can do as Thou doest.

11. All Nations whom Thou haft made fhall come and worship Thee, O Lord, and fhall glorifie thy Name; for Thou art great, and doest wond'rous Things; Thou art God alone.

12. Teach me thy Way, O Lord, and I will walk in thy Truth; O knit my Heart unto Thee, that I may fear thy Name.

13. I will praise Thee, O Lord my God, with all my Heart, and will glorifie thy Name for evermore; for great is thy Mercy toward me :

14. For Thou, O Lord God, art full of Compaffion and Mercy; long-fuffering, plenteous in Goodness and Truth.

15. O turn Thee then unto me, and have Mercy upon me; give thy Strength unto thy Servant, and help the Son of thine Handmaid.

16. Shew fomeToken upon me for good, that they, who hate me, may fee it and be afhamed, because Thou, Lord, haft holpen me and comforted me.

17. LORD, THOU haft been our Refuge, from one Generation to another: before the Mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadft formed the Earth and the World, even from everlasting to everlasting Thou art God. (PS. xc.) 18. Thou turneft Man to Deftruction; again, Thou fayeft, "Return, ye Children of Men."

19. For a thousand Years in thy Sight are but as Yefter day, when that is paft, and as a Watch in the Night. 20. As foon as Thou scattereft them, they are even as a Sleep, and fade away fuddenly like the Grafs:

21. In the Morning it is green and groweth up; but in the Evening it is cut down, dried up and withered.

22. For we confume away in thy Difpleafure; and at thy wrathful Indignation we are troubled.

23. Thou haft fet our Iniquities before Thee, and our fecret Sins in the Light of thy Countenance.

24. For

24. For when Thou art angry, all our Days are gone; we bring our Years to an End, as it were a Tale that is told.

25. The Days of our Age are threefcore Years and ten, and though Men be fo ftrong, that they come to fourfcore Years, yet is their Strength but Labor and Sorrow; for it foon paffeth away, and we are gone.

[ocr errors]

26. But who regardeth the Power of thine Anger? for even according as a Man feareth, fo is thy Displeasure.

27. So teach us to number our Days, that we may apply our Hearts unto Wisdom.

28. Turn Thee again, O Lord, at the lalt, and be gracious unto thy Servants.

29. O fatisfie us with thy Mercy, and that foon; fo fhall we rejoice, and be glad all the Days of our Life.

30. Comfort us again now after the Time that Thou haft afflicted us, and for the Years wherein we have suffered Adverfity.

31. Shew unto thy Servants thy Work, and unto their Children thy Glory.

be

32. And let the glorious Majefty of the Lord our God upon us profper Thou the Work of our Hands upon us, yea, our handy-Work establish Thou it.

33. Now TO HIM that is of Power to ftablish Us according to his Gospel, and the Preaching of Jefus Christ; to God only wife, be Glory, through Jefus Chrift for ever. (Rom. xvi. 25.)

34. Amen.
