As these Letters, and other posthumous pieces, have been published since the death of their Author, the late Rev. John Fletcher, we thought it most adviseable to send them forth in a separate volume, unconnected with his controversial works.

Here we have a discovery of that great man, in the character of the most humble and deeply experienced christian. Here we have his very heart and private conduct unfolded to public view: and as we read, we must gaze with astonishment. We may perhaps venture to say, we have never seen any publication better calculated to instruct, comfort, and strengthen the sincere enquirer after holiness and heaven, than the contents of this book. But all commendation fails! The enlightened reader must judge for himself.
