The wicked flee when no man pursueth:

But the righteous are bold as a lion.

He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance,

He shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread:

But he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

A faithful man shall abound with blessings:

But he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

To have respect of persons is not good:

For for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye,

And considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

He that rebuketh a man

Afterwards shall find more favour

Than he that flattereth with the tongue.

Whoso robbeth his father or his mother,
And saith,It is no transgression;'
The same is the companion of a destroyer.

He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife :

But he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool:
But whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack :
But he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

When the wicked rise, men hide themselves : But when they perish, the righteous increase.

He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

A man that flattereth his neighbour Spreadeth a net for his feet.

The rod and reproof give wisdom:

But a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Two things have I required of thee;

Deny me them not before I die :
Remove far from me vanity and lies:
Give me neither poverty nor riches;
Feed me with food convenient for me:
Lest I be full, and deny thee,
And say, 'Who is the LORD?'

Or lest I be poor, and steal,

And take the name of my GOD in vain.

Who can find a virtuous woman?

For her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
So that he shall have no need of spoil.

She will do him good and not evil

All the days of her life.

She seeketh wool, and flax,

And worketh willingly with her hands.

She is like the merchants' ships;

She bringeth her food from afar.

She riseth also while it is yet night,
And giveth meat to her household,
And a portion to her maidens.

She considereth a field, and buyeth it:

With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

She girdeth her loins with strength,

And strengtheneth her arms.

She perceiveth that her merchandise is good:
Her candle goeth not out by night.

She layeth her hands to the spindle,
And her hands hold the distaff.

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
Yea, she reacheth forth her hand to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household:
For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry;
Her clothing is silk and purple.

Her husband is known in the gates,

When he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it;
And delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing;
And she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
And in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household,

And eateth not the bread of idleness.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed;

Her husband also, and he praiseth her.

THE

NEW TESTAMENT

OF

OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR

JESUS CHRIST.

THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judæa, a certain priest named Zacharias; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before GOD, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the LORD blameless. And they had no child.

And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before GOD in the order of his course, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the LORD. And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. And there appeared unto him an angel of the LORD standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, 'Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call 'his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; ' and many shall rejoice at his birth. And many of the

And the angel answering said unto him, ‘I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of GOD; and am 'sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able 'to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, 'because thou believest not my words, which shall be 'fulfilled in their season.' And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple. And when he came out, he could not speak unto them.

And the angel Gabriel was sent from GOD unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, 'Hail! thou 'that art highly favoured, the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou among women!' And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, 'Fear not, Mary: for thou 'with GOD. And, behold, thou ' and shalt call his name JESUS. 'shall be called the SON of the HIGHEST: and the LORD 'GOD shall give unto him the throne of his father David : ' and HE shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and ' of his kingdom there shall be no end.' And Mary said, 'Behold the handmaid of the LORD; be it unto me 'according to thy word.' And the angel departed from her.

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill
