BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, The ungodly are not so: * The arrangement of the verses of the Psalms and Proverbs, has been generally taken from that of the “Paragraph Bible," published by the Bible Society. PSALM V. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: For unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. For Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness : Neither shall evil dwell with thee, The foolish shall not stand in thy sight : Thou hatest all workers of iniquity, Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing : The LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multi tude of thy mercy : And in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. PSALM VIII. O LORD our LORD, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory above the heavens ! Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Hast Thou ordained strength Because of thine enemies, That Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful of him ? And the son of man, that Thou visitest him ? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, And hast crowned him with glory and honour. thy hands; PSALM XI. In the LORD put I my trust : How say ye to my soul, ‘Flee as a bird to your moun tain ? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, * They make ready their arrow upon the string, That they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. • If the foundations be destroyed, • What can the righteous do ?' The Lord is in his holy temple, bateth. |
