One sin will catch the eye,
Another tempt the heart;
And idle thoughts and hands soon try
To bear in sin a part.

But if with works or books,

Or skilful healthy play,

You fill your thoughts, and hands, and looks, Temptation goes away.

And God is always near,

To guard you at your work;
To keep your heart and eye and ear,
From sins which round you lurk.

How long wilt thou | sleep, O | sluggard?
When wilt thou a | rise out of thy | sleep?
Yet a little sleep, a little | slumber,
A little folding of the hands to | sleep:
So shall thy poverty come as | one that |

Prov. vi. 6.

285. Servants, Obey--Masters, be Just.

SERVANTS, be obedient

To them that are your masters according to the flesh;

With fear and trembling,

In singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Not with eye-service, as menpleasers,
But as the servants of Christ, doing the will
of God from the heart;

With good will doing service,

As to the Lord, and not to men.
Masters, do the same things unto them,
Forbearing threatening;

Knowing that your Master also is in heaven;

Neither is there respect of persons with him.

LOYALTY.

Eph. vi. 5-9.

(The Queen's Accession, or beginning to reign,

20th June.)

Epist. 1 Pet. ii. 11-17. Gospel, Matt. xxii. 16-22. Matins, Josh. i. 1-9; Rom. xiii.

286.

God Save the Queen.

(National Anthem.)

GOD save Victoria the Queen,

Long live our noble Queen.

God save the Queen!

Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us.

God save the Queen!

O Lord, our God, arise,
Scatter her enemies,

And make them fall:

Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On her our hopes we fix ;

O save us all!

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour ;

Long may she reign!

May she defend the laws,
And ever give us cause,

With heart and voice to sing,

God save the Queen

God bless our Church and State,
Long keep them good and great.

Long live our Queen!

O God, upon her head
Blessings for ever shed,

Safeguards around her spread.

God save the Queen!

God grant her long to see,

Friendship and unity,

Always increase!

May she her sceptre sway ;-
All loyal hearts obey ;-

Join heart and voice to cry

God save the Queen!

287. Fear God, Honour the Queen. I EXHORT, therefore, that, first of all, Supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks,

Be made for all men ;

For kings and for all that are in authority; That we may lead a quiet and peaceable life

In all godliness and honesty.

My son, fear thou the Lord and the King: And meddle not with them that are given to change :

For their calamity shall rise suddenly : And who knoweth the ruin of them both. 1 Tim. ii. 1; Prov. xxiv. 21.

288. Thou wilt prolong the King's Life.(c.M.)

O LORD, our God, bow down thine ear,
And bless our native land;
For ever guard our gracious Queen
With thine almighty hand.

Grant that she long may live and reign
In health and perfect peace;

May all her foes be overwhelmed,
Her faithful friends increase.
Grant her to guard thy holy Church,
Bid godly wisdom grow;
Defend the stranger and the poor,
And wickedness o'erthrow.

Grant that the children through her realm
Their parents may obey;

O visit her, for Jesus' sake,
With blessings day by day.

289. King of kings, and Lord of lords.

THE Lord is King,

Be the people never so impatient;
He sitteth between the cherubims
Be the earth never so unquiet.
The Lord is great in Sion,

And high above all people.

290.

Ps. xcix. 1, 2.

(7's.)

My Native Land.

BLESSED be my native land,
Guard it, Lord, on every hand;
All the earth beside has not
Such a happy, holy spot.

Land of Bibles and of light,

Land where youth are taught what's right, Land of churches and of grace,

Land where Sundays bless each place.
