Take ye good heed unto yourselves;
The similitude of any figure.
Rom. i. 22; Deut. iv. 15.
240. Worship neither Saints nor Angels.
AND when I had heard and seen,
I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel
Which had shewed me these things.
Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: For I am thy fellow-servant,
And of thy brethren the prophets,
And of them which keep the sayings of this book:
Worship God.-Rev. xxii. 8.
THE THIRD COMMANDMENT.
Swear not at all.
O NEVER, never swear,
Nor use a wicked word;
O why should words profane
How can you take his name in vain,
At church you sing and pray,
It ought not to be so :
O, watch your hearts within!
242. Keep thy Tongue from evil.
I SAY unto you, Swear not at all;
But let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay :
For whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
Above all things, my brethren, swear not; Neither by heaven, neither by the earth, Neither by any other oath :
But let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; Lest ye fall into condemnation.
From doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
The holy of the Lord, honourable;
Not doing thine own ways,
Nor finding thine own pleasure,
Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord;
244. Bear no Burdens on Sunday.
THUS saith the Lord; Take heed to yourselves,
And bear no burden on the Sabbath-day,
Out of your houses on the Sabbath-day,
But hallow ye the Sabbath-day,
As I commanded your fathers.
Jer. xvii. 21.
SUNDAY is the holy day,
Sunday unto us is given
Such as we shall have in heaven,
In the six appointed days,
The First Sabbath.
THUS the heavens and the earth were finished,
And all the host of them.
And on the seventh day
God ended his work which He had made;
Because that in it He had rested
From all his work which God created and made. Gen. ii. 1.
THE Sunday is at hand,
"Tis time for me to close
The business of the week;
I'll finish ere I sleep,
When death shall be at hand,
THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT.
248. Children, Obey your Parents. (7's.)
CHILDREN, Would you know the way,
Think not 'tis enough to love,
What they bid you, always do;
