There was a division therefore again among 20 the Jews for these sayings. And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye 21 him? Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the Ex.4.11. eyes of the blind?

87. Christ teacheth to pray.

AND it came to pass, that, as he was praying A. D. 33. in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, 2 as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, "When ye pray, say, Our Father "which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in 3" heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our 4“ daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we "also forgive every one that is indebted to us. "And lead us not into temptation; but deliver 5" us from evil." And he said unto them, "Which "of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto "him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, 6" lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine "in his journey is come to me, and I have 7" nothing to set before him? And he from "within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: "the door is now shut, and my children are "with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8" I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because "of his importunity he will rise and give him

"and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that 11" knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall "ask bread of any of you that is a father, will "he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will 12" he for a fish give him a serpent? or if he shall 13" ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spi"rit to them that ask him?"

the mustard seed, and of the leaven.

AND he was teaching in one of the synagogues L. 13. on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman 10, 11 which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he 12 called her to him, and said unto her, "Woman, Acts 9.17." thou art loosed from thine infirmity." And 13 he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the 14 ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabEx. 20.9. bath day, and said unto the people, "There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and 15 said, "Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you "on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from "the stall, and lead him away to watering? and 16 ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on "the sabbath day?" And when he had said 17 these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

Then said he, “Unto what is the kingdom of 18
"God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
"it is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man 19
"took, and cast into his garden; and it grew,
" and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the
"air lodged in the branches of it." And again 20
he said, "Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom
"of God? it is like leaven, which a woman 21
"took and hid in three measures of meal, till
"the whole was leavened."
