sembled this day, we praise Thee that Thou didst send into the world Thy Son to save us; and having delivered Him up for our offenses, didst raise Him again for our justification; and through His glorious resurrection hast given us the blessed hope of everlasting life. O Lord, may these our thanksgivings come up with acceptance before Thy throne. Make us worthy to have part in the resurrection of the just, and the glory of Thine eternal kingdom: whither Jesus the Forerunner hath for us entered, where now He lives and reigns, and is worshipped and glorified; with Thee and the Holy Ghost, One God, blessed for evermore. Amen

¶The People remaining in the posture of prayer, the Minister shall pronounce

THE BENEDICTION.

THE grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

THE TREASURY OF PRAYERS.

These Prayers may be used, if the Minister so desires, in connection with the MORNING SERVICE, and the EVENING SERVICE. They are also commended to Christians, at other times, for guidance and help in their devotions; being gathered and compiled from the Holy Scriptures, from the records of the early Church, and from the fathers of the Reformed Faith, with such additions as have been made in our own time by those who have prayed and laboured in the same Spirit.

GENERAL PRAYERS FOR COMMON WORSHIP.

ADORATIONS.

I.

ETERNAL and ever-blessed God, we bow down before Thy divine majesty, adoring Thee, the Lord of heaven and earth, of whom and through whom and to whom are all things; unto whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

II.

LORD God eternal; sovereign and immutable; holy, just, and merciful; Maker of all things by Thy_power; Ruler of all things in Thy wisdom; We adore Thee for the wonders of the heavens and the earth; for the goodness of Thy dealings and the perfection of Thy secret counsels; for Thy saving love revealed in Jesus Christ, and Thy living presence made known by the Holy Spirit. By day and night, with voice and heart, praise and adoration shall be given unto Thee, O Lord most mighty and most merciful, from generation unto generation, for ever and ever. Amen.

III.

HOLY, Holy, Holy! Lord God almighty; There is none

like unto Thee, who hast set Thy glory above the heavens. Praise waiteth for Thee in Zion, and unto Thee shall the vow be performed. Hearken to the adoration of Thy people, we beseech Thee, and let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord our Strength and our Redeemer. Amen.

IV.

GOD, whose being and perfections are infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever: Thou art glorious in holiness, full of love and compassion, abundant in grace and truth. All Thy works praise Thee in all places of Thy dominion: and Thy Son hath glorified Thee upon earth. Therefore we bow down and adore Thee, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, one God, blessed for evermore. Amen.

V.

LORD, Thou art our God: we will exalt Thee, we will praise Thy Name: for Thou hast done wonderful things. By the stars of heaven Thou hast spoken: and in the heart of man Thy voice is heard. Through Thy Word Thou hast given light; and in Thy Son the brightness of Thy glory is revealed. Lift up our hearts unto Thee, O God, and receive our adoration; through Jesus Christ. Amen.

THANKSGIVINGS.

I.

ALMIGHTY God, Father of all mercies, we, Thine unworthy servants, do give Thee most humble and hearty thanks for all Thy goodness and loving-kindness to us, and to all men. We bless Thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for Thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech Thee, give us that due sense of all Thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we show forth Thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to Thy service, and by walking before Thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

II.

GOD, by whose hand all living things were made, and by whose blessing they are nourished and sustained; We give Thee hearty thanks for all the bounties of Thy providence, wherewith Thou hast enriched our life; and we humbly pray that, enjoying Thy gifts in contentment, we may be enabled by Thy grace to use them to Thy praise. Especially we thank Thee for Thy great love in sending Thy Son to be the Saviour of the world, and in calling us out of our sins into fellowship with Him: and we beseech Thee to grant us always Thy Holy Spirit, through whom we may grow continually in thankfulness toward Thee, as also into the likeness of Thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
