11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me, I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath liated them, because they are not of thie world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth : thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither
pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word ; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, ari in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them: that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved nie may be in them, and I in them,
LESSON LXXI. John, Chap. 18. Matthew, Chap. 26. Luke, Chap. 22. When Jesus bad spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered with his disciples. And the place was called Gethseniane,
36 And Jesus said to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death : tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass
from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 'And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth theni asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 And he left them, and went away again, and there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44 And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest : behold the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us be going; behold he is at hand that doth betray me.
2 And Judas also, which betrayed lim, knew the place: for Jesus oft times resorted thither with his disciples.
48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he, hold him fast.
3. Judas then having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns, and torches, and weapons.
4. Jesus therefore knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he.
6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he,' they went backward and fell to the ground.
7. Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus answered, I have told you
that I am he. If therefore ye seek me, let these go
way: 9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
49 And forthwith Judas came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Master; and kissed him. But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of Man with a kiss ?
10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. vant's name was Malchus.
11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: for all they that take the sword shall perish by the sword: the cup
my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and ne shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels ?
54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be ?
55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take Que ? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and laid no hold on me.
56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the pro phets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
LESSON LXXII. John, Chap. 18. Matthew, Chap. 26. Luke, Chap. 22." 12 Then the band, and the captain, and officers of the Jews took Jesus and bound him, and led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
15 And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. That disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.
16 But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and wake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
7 Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
18 And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals, (for it was cold,) and they warmed themselves : and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
19 The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples and of his doctrine. Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.
21 Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.
22 And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
23 Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why smitest thou me ?
59 When the morning was come, the chief priests and elders, and all the council, sought false witnesses against Jesus to put him to death;
60 But found none : yea, though many false witnesses came, vet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said : nevertheless I say unto yon, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, he hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses ? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffetted him ; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
25 And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself : they said therefore unto him, Art thou not also one of his disciples ? He denied it, and said, I am not.
26 One of the servants of the high priest being his kinsman whose car Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden
with him ? Peter then denied again with an oath, saying, I know not the man; and immediately the cock crew.
61 And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter: and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And Peter went out and wept bitterly.
Matthew, Chap. 27. John, Chap. 18. Luke, Chap. 23. 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned, in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. And falling headlong he burst asunder in the midst and all his bowels gushed out.
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
9 (Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord had appointed me.)
John, Chap. 18. 28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.
29 Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?
