to knowledge, from virtue to virtue, and from happiness to happiness, in blessed communion with thee the greatest and best of beings, and

with the holy and blessed spirits that surround thy throne. O may our lives be one continued scene of pious sentiments, dutiful services and dispositions towards thee our God; abounding in all loving-kindness and long-suffering towards our brethren and fellow-travellers through this vale of mortality to an everlasting state. Pardon, heavenly Father, and help us to amend whatsoever in

us is contrary to thy divine nature;

and grant, that taught by the unspotted life and commandments of Jesus Christ, we may shun every ap

pearance of evil; and so pass through

things seen and temporal, that we

finally lose not those that are unseen and eternal. If it be possible may none of our brethren of the human race fall from their high destinations; may they all be good and happy---objects of thy favour here and thy great rewards hereafter. Let no inordinate appetite or corrupt affection cloud the serenity of

our minds, hinder us from perceiving thy thoughts of mercy towards us, or

obstruct our progress in the path of heavenly happiness. Now unto thee the Lord of heaven and earth, the Fountain of perfection and happiness, be rendered, by all thy creatures in earth and in heaven, humble obe

dience and never-ending gratitude. Amen.

PRAYER XIII.

O GOD, the Creator, Benefactor, Guardian and Friend of all; from thee we derive every faculty of our nature, every capacity of improvement, every talent of usefulness, every prospect of felicity in this, and in a future and better world. With what deep regret and sorrow ought we to recal the memory of every act whereby we have rendered ourselves less useful, less happy, less prepared

to serve and honour thee here, and less qualified to be happy with thee and with each other hereafter. O grant unto thy penitent creatures pardon for what is past and help for the time to come. Crown with thy blessing our humble endeavours to cultivate true devotion and unfeigned charity. May we remember that we were not born for ourselves alone, but to minister to each other's comfort and well being. United to thee our Father, and to all the children of thy family by the most tender and affectionate ties, may we
