flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down the earth with the hand. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet. ROм. xiii. 12, 13: The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 1COR. vi. 10: Nor drunkards shall inherit the kingdom of God. GAL. v. 19, 21: The works of the flesh are manifest,-envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. 1 THES. v. 6-8: Let us not sleep as do others, but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 PET. iv. 3, 7: The time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lust, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries. The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

CHAP. XXII.

NOW the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

11 And ye shall say unto the good man of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples?

12 And he shall show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them and they made ready the Passover. 14 And when the 'hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

betray him unto them. JOHN, xiii. 2, 27: Supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him. After the sop, Satan entered into him.

19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
