The forms of action words that are given for practice in different parts of the book are brought together here for the convenience of the teacher.

Exercise

The sentences given for illustration should be read aloud until the forms are familiar to the pupils. The blanks are to be filled with the words that are given above the exercise.

NOTE. Notice that the form that is used with he or she or it usually ends with s or es. We say I come and he comes.

A Catch Game

Each pupil may make three sentences, each of which contains a blank. He may make sentences that he thinks will catch some pupil. These sentences may be similar to those given in the exercises, but of course the same sentences should not be used. The teacher may call upon a pupil to go to the blackboard to write the three sentences that he has made, and the pupil may call upon another pupil to come to the blackboard to fill the blanks. The game is to catch the pupil who comes to fill the blank. The same pupil should not be called twice until all the pupils have been to the blackboard.

Each of the following groups of words may be studied in the same manner. The game may be used with each group at the option of the teacher.
