OF THE FRENCH EDITOR.

THE Abridgment of the History of England, by Dr. Goldsmith, of which the present is an improved Edition, has enjoyed, ever since its first appearance, an unparalleled popularity, and new editions are still published annually in England. Among the several authors of Continuations, Notes, and Additions, Mr. Pinnock has obtained the preference in England, and we have therefore chosen his Continuation for the text of the present Continental Edition; some errors of narration and prejudices may exist, but it must be remembered that it is an Englishman who writes the history of his own country.

are:

NARCHS BEFORE AND AFTER THE
CONQUEST.

SKETCH OF SAXON IDOLS.

LITERATURE, SCIENCE, AND THE ARTS
OF THE AGE.

THE BRITISH CONSTITUTION.
THE BRITISH REGALIA.

LISTS OF EMINENT PERSONS IN EACH GENEALOGY OF THE PRESENT ROYAL Reign.
