GOSPEL. Luke xix. 41. 47.

T that time: As Jesus drew near to Jerusalem, beholding the city, he wept over it, saying: O if thou didst but know, and even in this thy day, the things that are for thy peace! but now they are hidden from thy eyes. For the days will come upon thee, when thy enemies shall cast up a trench round about thee, and encompass thee, and straiten thee on every side; and they shall beat thee down to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation. And going into the temple, he began to cast out those that bought and sold in it; saying to them; it is written; My house is a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves. And he taught daily in the temple. CREDO.

OFFERT. Psalm xviii. The ordinances of the Lord are right, and gladden the heart; and his precepts are sweeter than honey, and the honey-comb; and therefore doth thy servant observe them.

Justitiæ Domini recta lætificantes corda; et judicia ejus dulciora super mel et favum; nam et servus tuus custodit ea.

SECRET. Grant us, O Lord, we beseech thee, worthily to celebrate often these mysteries; for as many times as this commemorative sacrifice is celebrated, so often is the work of our redemption performed. Thro.' COMM. John vi. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him, saith the Lord.

Qui manducat meam carnem, et bibit meum sanguinem, in me manet, et ega in eo, dicit Dominus.

POSTCOMM. Tui nobis. May the participation of this thy sacrament, O Lord, we beseech thee, both purify us, and unite us. Thro'

you went after dumb idols, even as you were led. Therefore I declare to you, that no man speaking by the spirit of God, saith Anathema to Jesus. And no one can say; Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit. Now there are diversities of graces, but the same spirit; and diversities of ministries, but the same Lord: and diversities of functions; but it is the same God that worketh all in all. And the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every one for the general profit. To one indeed is given

by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gift of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another the discerning of spirits; to another diversity of tongues; to another the interpreting of speeches. Now one and the same Spirit performeth all these things, distributing to every one, as he pleaseth.

T that time: Jesus spoke this parable to certain

A men, who confided in themselves as righteous, and

despised others. Two men went up to the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, the other a Publican. The Pharisee standing, prayed thus within himself: O God, I give thee thanks, that I am not like other men, whọ are extortioners, unjust, adulterers; or even like this Publican. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all I have. And the Publican standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: God be merciful to me a sinner. I say to you: This may returned home justified more than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted. CREDO. OFFERT. Ps. xxiv. To thee, O Lord, have I raised up my soul; my God, I put my trust in thee, let me not be put to shame': neither let my enemies scoff at me; for none that rely on thee, shall ever be confounded.

Ad te, Domine, levavi animam meam; Deus meus, in te confido, non erubescam; neque irrideant me inimici mei; etenim universi qui te expectant, non confundentur.

SECRET. May the sacrifice we offer, O Lord, be presented before thee; which thou hast appointed to be offered in honour of thy name, and at the same time become a remedy to us Thro' COMM. Ps. 1. Thou wilt accept a sacrifice of righteousness, oblations, and whole burnt offerings on thy altar, O Lord.

Acceptabis sacrificium justitiæ, oblationes, et holocausta super altare tuum, Domine.

POSTCOMM. Quæsumus. We beseech thee, O Lord our God, that in thy mercy thou wouldst never deprive those of thy help, whom thou continually strengthenest by these divine mysteries. Thro'.

pel I have already published amongst you, which you also received, in which you have persevered, and by which you are saved, if you remember after what manner I preached to you; otherwise you have believed in vain. For I first of all delivered to you, what I myself had received; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures; and that he was seen by Cephas, and after that by the eleven. Then he was seen by more than five hundred of the brethren at once; many of whom still remain, but some of them sleep. After that he was seen by James; then by all the Apostles; and last of all by me myself, as by one born out of due time. For I am the least of the Apostles, and am not worthy to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the Church of God. But by the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace hath not been fruitless in me.

GRAD. Ps. xxvii. My heart trusted in God, and I was relieved; and my body hath recovered its strength; and I will praise him with my whole heart. V. To thee, O Lord, have I cried out; be not silent, O my God, nor depart from me. Alleluia, Alleluia. V. Exult in God our hope; joyfully sing to the God of Jacob; sing a hymn of joy on the harp. Alleluia.

In Deo speravit cor neum, et adjutus sum; etrefloruit caro mea; et ex voluntate mea confitebor illi. V. Ad te, Donine, clamavi; Deus meus ne sileas; ne discedas a me. Alleluia, Alleluia. V. Ps. 80. Exultate Deo adjutori nostro, jubilate Deo Jacob: sumite psalmum jucudum cum cithara, Alleluia.
