1 Chronicles 16.

13 O ye seed of Israel his servant,

Ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14 He is the LORD our God:

His judgements are in all the earth.

15 Remember his covenant for ever,

The word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

16 The covenant which he made with Abraham,

And his oath unto Isaac;

26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols:

But the LORD made the heavens.

27 Honour and majesty are before him:

Strength and gladness are in his place.

28 Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the peoples,
Give unto the LORD glory and strength.

29 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name:
Bring an offering, and come before him:

Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

30 Tremble before him, all the earth:

The world also is stablished that it cannot be moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;

And let them say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.

32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;

Let the field exult, and all that is therein;

33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy before the LORD,
For he cometh to judge the earth.

34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good:

For his mercy endureth for ever.

35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation,

And gather us together and deliver us from the nations,

To give thanks unto thy holy name,

And to triumph in thy praise.

36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
From everlasting even to everlasting.

And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.

(4) CONCLUDING STATEMENTS.

2 Samuel 6:196–23.

196 So all the people departed every one to his house. 20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to-day, who uncovered himself to-day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! 21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me above thy father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD. 22 And I will be yet more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight but of the handmaids which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. 23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

1 Chronicles 16:37-43.

37 So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required: 38 and Obed-edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be doorkeepers: 39 and Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon, 40 to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded unto Israel; 41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever; 42 and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with instruments for the songs of God: and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate. 43 And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

96. DAVID'S KINDNESS TOWARDS JONATHAN'S SON, MEPHIBOSHETH.•

2 Samuel 9:1-13.

1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? 2 And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him unto David; and the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he. 3 And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. 4 And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar. 5 Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar. 6 And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came unto David, and fell on his face, and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant! 7 And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. 8 And he did obeisance, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am? 9 Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, All that pertained to Saul and to all his house have I given unto thy master's son. 10 And thou shalt till the land for him, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants; and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have bread to eat but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. II Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons. 12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem : for he did eat continually at the king's table; and he was lame on both his feet.
