15 And I am glad for your fakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe: nevertheless let us go unto him.

16 Then faid Thomas, which is called 'Didymus, unto his fellow difciples, Let us alfo go, that we may die with him.

17 Then when Jefus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already. 18 Now Bethany was nigh anto Jerufalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

20 Then Martha as foon as fhe heard that Jefus was coming, went and met him: but Mary fat ftill in the house.

life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet fhall he live:

26 And whofoever liveth and believeth in me, fhall never die. Believeft thou this?

27 She faith unto him, Yea, Lord, I believe that thou art the Chrift, the Son of God, which fhould come into the world.

28 And when she had fo faid, fhe went her way, and called Mary her fifter fecretly, faying, The Mafter is come, and calleth for thee,

29 As foon as he heard that, the arose quickly, and came unto him.

30 Now Jefus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they faw Mary that the rofe up haftily and went out, followed her, faying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

32 Then when Mary was come where Jefus was, and faw him, fhe fell down at his feet, faying unto him, Lord, if thou hadft been here, my brother had not died.

33 When Jefus therefore faw her weeping, and the

34 And faid, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and fee. 35 Jefus wept.

36 Then faid the Jews, Behold, how he loved him! 37 And fome of them faid, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caufed that even this man fhould not have died? 38 Jefus therefore again groaning in himself, cometh to the grave: it was a cave, and a ftone lay upon it. 539 Jefus faid, Take ye away the ftone. Martha, the fifter of him that was dead, faith unto him, Lord, by this time he ftinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

40 Jefus faith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou fhouldeft fee the glory of God?

12.

43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jefus faith unto them, Loofe him, and let him go.

45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had feen the things which Jefus did, believed on him.

46 But fome of them went their ways to the Pharifees, and told them what things Jefus had done.

47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharifees a council, and faid, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans fhall come and take away both our place and nation.

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where 49 And one of them named the dead was laid. And Je-Caiaphas, being the high fus lifted up his eyes, and faid, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

42 And I knew that thou hearest me always but becaufe of the people-which

prieft that fame year, faid unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

50 Nor confider that it is expedient for us, that one man fhould die for the people,

and

and that, the whole nation and that perifh not.

51 And this fpake he not of himself, but, being high prieft that year, he prophefied that Jefus fhould die for that nation;

52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were fcattered abroad.

53 Then from that day forth they took council together for to put him to

death.

54 Jefus therefore, walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wildernefs, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his difciples.

55 And the Jews' paffover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerufalem before the paffover to purify themselves.

56 Then fought they for Jefus, and ipake among them felves as they ftood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feaft?

57 Now both the chief prie fts and the Pharifees had given a commandment, that if any man knew where he were, he fhould fhew it, that they might take him.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not fo, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myfelf; that where I am, i there ye may be alfo.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know

5 Thomas faith unto him, Lord, we know not whither, thou goeft; and how can we know the way?

6 Jefus faith unto him, I am the way, and the truth,, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye fhould have known my Father alfo and from henceforth ye know him, and have feen him.

8 Philip faith unto him, Lord, fhew us the Father, and it fufficeth us.

9 Jefus faith unto him, Have I been fo long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath feen me, hath feen the Father; and how

fayest

fayeft thou then, Shew us comfortless: I will come to the Father?.

10 Believeft thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me the words that I fpeak unto you, I fpeak not of myself: but the Father, that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

II Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or elfe believe me for the very works' fake.

12 Verily, verily, I fay unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do fhall he do alfo; and greater works than these fhall he do: because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye fhall afk in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye fhall afk any thing in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he fhall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it feeth him not, neither knoweth him but ye know hiin; for he dwelleth with you, and fhall be in you.

18 I will not leave you

you.

19 Yet a little while and the world feeth me no more; but ye fee me: because I live, ye fhall live alfo.

20 At that day ye fhall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me fhall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifeft myself to him.

22 Judas faith unto him, not Ifcariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifeft thyfelf unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jefus answered and faid unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my fayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which fent me.

25 These things have I fpoken unto you, being yet prefent with you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghoft, whom the Father will fend

in my name, he fhall teach | beareth fruit, he purgeth it, you all things, and bring all that it may bring forth more things to your remembrance, fruit.. whatsoever I have faid unto you.

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I faid unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I faid, I go unto the Father; for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pafs, ye might believe.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even fo I do. Arife, let us go hence..

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the fame bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is caft forth as a branch, and is withered: and men gather them, and caft them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye fhall afk what ye will, and it fhall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; fo fhall ye be my dif ciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, fo have I loved you: continue ye in my love."

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye fhall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
