The British Museum, as is well known, is at present in Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury. It is, however,

in contemplation shortly to separate the different collections now within the same building, and to transfer the departments of Natural History, of Geology, Mineralogy and Botany, to an edifice to be erected at Kensington. The office hours for most of the employés are from ten to four, except for some of the assistants, who have to remain from nine till four, and, during the summer months, from nine till six. There are few vacation days, amounting in the whole to only about two weeks in the year.
