Καὶ θεωρεῖ τὸν οὐρανὸν ἀνεωγμένον, καὶ καταβαῖνον ἐπ ̓ αὐτὸν σκεῦος τι ὡς ὀθόνην μεγάλην, τέσσαρσιν ἀρχαῖς δεδεμένον, καὶ καθιέμενον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς

And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth :

VER. 12.

Ἐν ὦ ὑπῆρχε πάντα τὰ τετράποδα τῆς γῆς, καὶ τὰ θηρία, καὶ τὰ ἑρπετὰ, καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.

Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

VER. 15.

A. D. 41.

Καὶ ἐγένετο φωνὴ πρὸς αὐτόν· ̓Αναστὰς, Πέτρε, θῦσαν καὶ φάγε.

And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

VER. 14.

Ὁ δὲ Πέτρος εἶπε· Μηδαμώς, Κύριε· ὅτι οὐδέποτε ἔφαγον πᾶν κοινὸν ἢ ἀκάθαρτον. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for 1 have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

VER. 15.

Καὶ φωνὴ πάλιν ἐκ δευτέρου πρὸς αὐτόν· “Α ὁ Θεὸς ἐκαθάρισε, σὺ μὴ κοίνου.

And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

VER. 16.

Τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τρίς· καὶ πάλιν ἀνελήφθη τὸ σκεῦος εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν.

This toas done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

VER. 17.

̔Ως δὲ ἐν ἑαυτῷ διηπόρει ὁ Πέτρος τί ἂν εἴη τὸ ὅραμα ὃ εἶδε, καὶ ἰδοὺ, οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ ἀπεσταλμένοι ἀπὸ τοῦ Κορνηλίου, διερω τήσαντες τὴν οἰκίαν Σίμωνος, ἐπέστησαν ἐπὶ τὸν πυλῶνα.

Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, VER. 18.

Καὶ φωνήσαντες ἐπυνθάνοντο εἰ Σίμων | ὁ ἐπικαλούμενος Πέτρος ἐνθάδε ξενίζεται And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

VER. 19.

Τοῦ δὲ Πέτρου ἐνθυμουμένου περὶ τοῦ ὁράματος, εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὸ Πνεῦμα, Ἰδοὺ, ἄνδρες τρεῖς ζητοῦσί σε

While Peter thought on the vision, a the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

VER. 20.

̓Αλλὰ ἀναστὰς κατάβηθι, καὶ πορεύου σὺν αὐτοῖς, μηδὲν διακρινόμενος, διότι ἐγὼ ἀπέσταλκα αὐτούς.

Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

Καταβὰς δὲ Πέτρος πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς ἀπεσταλμένους ἀπὸ τοῦ Κορνηλίου πρὸς αὐτὸν, εἶπεν· Ιδού, ἐγώ εἰμι ὃν ζητεῖτε· τίς ἡ αἰτία δι ̓ ἣν πάρεστε ;

Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek : what is the cause wherefore ye are come?'

a And when the people saw what voices, saying in the speech of LyPaul had done, they lifted up their caonia, The gods are come down to us, in the likeness of men. And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people. Which when the apostles, rent their clothes, and ran in among Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they the people, crying out, and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you, that ye should turn from these vanities, unto the living God, which made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein, Acts xiv. 11-15. I am the LORD; that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images, Isa. xlii. 8. and xlviii. 11. And he said unto me, See thou do it And I fell at his feet to worship him. not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy, Rev. xix. 10.

VER. 27.

Καὶ συνομιλῶν αὐτῷ εἰσῆλθε, καὶ εὑρί σκει συνεληλυθότας πολλούς.

And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

VER. 28.

Εφη τε πρὸς αὐτούς· Ὑμεῖς ἐπίσε τασθε, ὡς ἀθέμιτόν ἐστιν ἀνδρὶ Ἰουδαίῳ κολλᾶσθαι ἡ προσέρχεσθαι ἀλλοφύλω· καὶ ἐμοὶ ὁ Θεὸς ἔδειξε, μηδένα κοινὸν ἢ ἀκάθαρτον λέγειν ἄνθρωπον.

Καὶ ὁ Κορνήλιος ἔφη· ̓Απὸ τετάρτης ἡμέρας μέχρι ταύτης τῆς ὥρας μην νηστεύων, καὶ τὴν ἐννάτην ὥραν προσευχόμενος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου· καὶ ἰδοῦ, ἀνὴρ ἔστη ἐνώἐν ἐσθῆτι λαμπρά,

πιον μου

And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

VER. 31.

Καί φησι· Κορνήλιε, εἰσηκούσθη σου ἡ προσευχὴ, καὶ αἱ ἐλεημοσύναι σου ἐμνήσθήσαν ενώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ.

And said, Cornelius, thy prayer heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

A. D. 41. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

a For there is no respect of persons with God, Rom. ii. 11. But of those who seemed to be somewhat, whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person for they who seemed to be somewhat, in conference added nothing to me, Gal. ii. 6. And ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that ther is there respect of persons with your Master also is in heaven, neihim, Eph. vi. 9. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons, Col. iii. 25. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear, 1 Pet. . 17.

VER. 35.

̓Αλλ ̓ ἐν παντὶ ἔθνει ὁ φοβούμενος αὐτὸν, καὶ ἐργαζόμενος δικαιοσύνην, δεκτὸς αὐτῷ ἐστι.

Ἐξαυτῆς οὖν ἔπεμψα πρός σε σύ τε καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος. Νῦν οὖν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦς σαι πάντα τὰ προστεταγμένα σοι ὑπὸ

τοῦ Θεοῦ.

Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art

come.

Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
