C. 594. 12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark," every man in the chambers of his imagery? for LORD hath forsaken the earth. they say, The LORD seeth us not; the 13 He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. 14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's house which was toward the north; and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. 15 Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. 16 And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house; and, behold, at the door of the temple the LORD, about five* and twenty men, with their between the porch and the altar, were backs toward' the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. 17 Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen thi O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger; and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. 18 Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. 23 Make a chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence. 24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen,d and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease, and their holy places shall be defiled. 25 & Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none. 26 Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet: but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients. 27 The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. CHAPTER VIII. AND it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders" of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me. 2 Then I beheld, and, lo," a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber. 3 And he put forth the form of ant hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh" to jealousy. 4 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. 7 And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain; go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city. 8 And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah, The vision of the cherubim. Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem ? 9 Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness; for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seethe not. 10 And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; but I will recompense their way upon their head. 11 And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, Sreported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me. THEN I looked, and, behold, in the firmaments that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 2 And he spake unto the man" clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill nthine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatterk them over the city. CHAPTER XI. 0 MOREOVER," the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD's house, which looketh eastward: and, behold, at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes" of the people. 2 Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city; 3 Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh. 4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man. 5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD, Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. 6 Ye have multiplied your slain a in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain. 7 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this Mi. 3. 2, 3. city is the caldron; but I will bring you Je. 2. 34. μ flesh. forth out of the midst of it. 8 Ye have feared the sword; and I Ne.9.36,37. will bring a sword upon you, saith the Ps. 106. 41. C. 594. 14 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 15 Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD; unto us is this land given in possession. 16 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD, Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. 22 Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. 17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD, I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered," and I will give you the land of Israel. 18 And they shall come thither," and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof, and all the abominations thereof, from thence. 19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony" heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh;" 20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompensed their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD. 23 And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city. 62 Ki. 18. 12. Will ye hunts the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? 19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley, and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies? 20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them ily; and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and de liver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad, and strengthened? the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising μ him life; Jerusalem condemned for sin.
