THE SACRED TEXT

28

Jesus said unto them, O ye of little

Faith, why reason ye among your-
selves.
-Matt. 17: 17.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

Jesus still lead on,

Till our rest be won!

And, although the way be cheerless,
We will follow, calm and fearless.
Guide us by Thy hand

To our Fatherland.

If the way be drear,

If the foe be near,

Let not Faithless fears o'ertake us,

Let not Faith and hope forsake us,

For through many a foe

To our home we go!

-Hymn from the Land of Luther.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a Faithful Creator. -1 Pet. 4: 19.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

The life of Faith is the noblest, richest, contentedest, easiest, truest life of all. It is the noblest life, for it takes the soul out of the house of Adam and carries it into the household of God. Every man hath such

Fa

ther according to his Faith; and Be it unto thee, according to thy Faith saith Christ. -Divine Breathings.

There is one body and one spirit. One Lord, one Faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. -Epb. 4:5, 6.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

Faith stands serenely far above the reach of the atheism of science. It does not rest on the wonderful, but on the eternal wisdom and goodness of God. The revelation of the Son was to proclaim a Father, not a mystery. -F. W. Robertson.

No wonder that it is written in Scripture: This is the victory that overcometh the world- -even our Faith." No wonder it is said, "All things are possible to him that believeth." It is that which wrestles with difficulty, removes mountains, tramples upon impossibilities. It is the spirit of Faith which in the common affairs of life, known as a sanguine temperament, never says impossible and never believes in failure.

The trying of your Faith worketh patience Blessed is the man

that endureth temptation, for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him.

—Jas. 1: 3, 12

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

It is very easy for us to speak and theorize about Faith, but God often casts us into crucibles to try our gold, and separate it from the dross and alloy O happy for us if all the hurricanes that ripple life's unquiet sea have the effect of making Jesus more precious. Better the storm with

Christ than smooth waters without Him.

-Macduff.

Ye are all the children of God by Faith in Christ Jesus.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

-Gal. 3: 26.

Keep your Faith very steadfast, and your hope very bright, and your love ever resting on Him who is love; then you need not fear to pass through the dark valley with God. -Harriet Monsell.

So should we live that every hour
Should die, as dies a natural flower-
A self-reviving thing of power.
That every thought and every deed
May hold within itself the seed
Of future good and future need.

- Unknown.

And when they could not come nigh unto Him for the press, they uncovered the roof where He was; and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their Faith, He said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. -Mark 2: 4, 5.

THE HELPLUL THOUGHT

Just before God by Faith,

Just before men by works;

Just by the works of Faith

Just by the Faith which works!

-Lady Waterford.

THE HELPFUL THOUGHT

Faith is a personal relation.

Its signifi

cance and power are chiefly due to the fact
