'seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the ' land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on 'the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day 'shall be a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first 'day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm-trees, ' and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; ' and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your GOD seven ' days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven ' days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 'Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israel'ites born shall dwell in booths: that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in 'booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt.' And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall 'the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD. Six years thou 'shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy

vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; but in the 'seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a 'sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field,

nor prune thy vineyard. That which groweth of its own 'accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather 'the grapes of thy vine undressed for it is a year of rest ' unto the land.

And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven 'sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound ' on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout 'all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and 'proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhab'itants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye 'shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. A jubilee shall that

'fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap 'that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes ' in it of thy vine undressed.

'Ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and 'do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. And 'the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, ' and dwell therein in safety. And if ye shall say, What 'shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: then I will command my 'blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring 'forth fruit for three years. And ye shall sow the eighth ' year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until ⚫ her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.

'And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay 'with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he 'be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee. 'Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy 'GOD; that thy brother may live with thee.

'Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither 'rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any 'image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your GOD. Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and ' reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

:

'If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; then I will give you rain in due season, ' and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the 'field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall 'reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto 'the sowing-time and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. And I will give peace in 'the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you 'afraid and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither 'shall the sword go through your land. And ye shall 'chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the 'sword. And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an 'hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your 'enemies shall fall before you by the sword. For I will 'have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and mul'tiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

'But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all 'these commandments; and if ye shall despise my statutes, ' or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not 'do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: 'I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you 'terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart and ye 'shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat 'it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be 'slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And 'if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will 'punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will 'break the pride of your power; and I will make your 'heaven as iron, and your earth as brass; and your 'strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not ' yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield 'their fruits. And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will 'not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more 'plagues upon you according to your sins, I will also send 'wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your 'children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. And if 'ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will 'walk contrary unto me; then will I also walk contrary ' unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your 'sins. And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the 'pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the 'hand of the enemy.

'And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk 'contrary unto me; then I will walk contrary unto you ' also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times 'for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, ' and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. And I will 'destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and 'cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and 'my soul shall abhor you. And I will make your cities

'waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I 'will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. And I 'will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies ' which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. And I will 'scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword 'after you and your land shall be desolate, and your 'cities waste. Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as

long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did 'not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faint'ness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and 'the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall 'when none pursueth. And they shall fall one upon an'other, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies. And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' 'lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall 'they pine away with them. If they shall confess their ' iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their 'trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also 'they have walked contrary unto me; and that I also have 'walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised 'hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punish'ment of their iniquity: then will I remember my covenant ' with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also 'my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will ' remember the land.

'And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the 'land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy ' unto the LORD. And if a man will at all redeem aught ' of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.'

• Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt 'thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps. And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the 'door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And if they 'blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which ' are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather them'selves unto thee. When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward. When 'ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that • lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall 'blow an alarm for their journeys. But when the congre'gation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye 'shall not sound an alarm. And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your genera'tions. And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm 'with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before 'the LORD your GOD, and ye shall be saved from your 'enemies. Also in the day of your gladness, and in your 'solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye 'shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt-offerings, ' and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your GOD: I am the 'LORD your GOD.'
