Let us pray.

ALMIGHTY AND EVERLASTING GOD, Who hatest nothing that Thou hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent; Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of Thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O MERCIFUL LORD, the God of the families of the whole earth, we beseech Thee to look with the eye of Thy favour upon the family dwelling under this roof. Enable each of us to see Thy hand in our appointment to our several stations, and make us in earnest to fill them faithfully and well. What our hands find to do, may we do with our might, seeking before all things Thy glory, and looking for our rest hereafter with all Thy good and faithful servants; through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

LORD, we beseech Thee, grant Thy people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil; and with pure hearts and minds to follow Thee, the only God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O LORD GOD, Whose gracious Hand has led us to the beginning of another working week, impress our minds, we pray Thee, with a due sense of the value of time, and teach us to improve each hour as it flies. Sorrowfully remembering how many precious hours we have misspent in the past, and how grievously we have thus burdened the account we must one day render to Thee, may we give the more earnest heed hereafter to redeem the time. Strengthen us to conquer all dilatory habits in ourselves, and to resist the examples of them that we may see in others. Help us to set always before us

the earthly life of our Divine Pattern; making it our meat and drink to do Thy will, that, like Him, we also may be able at last to say we have finished the work Thou gavest us to do. And to our every good purpose and endeavour this day vouchsafe Thy blessing; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

MONDAY EVENING.-FIRST WEEK.

H

PSALM IV.

EAR me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; have mercy upon me, and hearken unto my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye blaspheme mine honour, and have such pleasure in vanity, and seek after leasing?

Know this also, that the Lord hath chosen to himself the man that is godly; when I call upon the Lord, he will hear

me.

Stand in awe, and sin not; commune with your own heart, and in your chamber, and be still.

Offer the sacrifice of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

There be

many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, since the time that their corn, and wine, and oil, increased.

I will lay me down in peace, and take my rest; for it is thou, Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Amen.

O LORD, we beseech Thee, absolve Thy people from their offences; that through Thy bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the bands of those sins which by our frailty we have committed: Grant this, O heavenly Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

O Lord God, Whose eyes run to and fro in the earth, we beseech Thee mercifully to behold our absent friends and relatives. Surround them with Thy sure protection by night and by day, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Continue them in health and prosperity so far as Thou shalt deem best for them; and give them all that is needful for their souls' health, and their growth in grace and virtue. Guide Thou their steps; be their Strength in weakness, and their

Friend always. Separated outwardly in the order of Thy Providence, may our souls remain united by Thy grace, and our thoughts and prayers for one another's good never cease. Enable us to fill our different stations, and run our various courses well, to the end; and, finally, reunite us for ever in Thy presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD, Whose never-failing Providence ordereth all things, both in heaven and earth, we humbly beseech Thee to put away from us all hurtful things, and to give us those things which be profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LIGHTEN our darkness, we beseech Thee, O Lord; and, by Thy great mercy, defend us from all perils and dangers of this night, for the love of Thy only Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.-FIRST WEEK.

PSALM V.

ONDER my words, O Lord; consider my meditation.

PONDE

O hearken thou unto the voice of my calling, my King, and my God; for unto thee will I make my prayer.

My voice shalt thou hear betimes, O Lord; early in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

For thou art the God that hast no pleasure in wickedness; neither shall any evil dwell with thee.

Such as be foolish shall not stand in thy sight; for thou hatest all them that work vanity.

Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing; the Lord will abhor both the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.

But as for me, I will come into thine house, even upon the multitude of thy mercy; and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness, because of mine enemies; make thy way plain before my face.

For there is no faithfulness in his mouth; their inward parts are very wickedness.

Their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

Destroy thou them, O God; let them perish through their own imaginations; cast them out in the multitude of their ungodliness; for they have rebelled against thee.

And let all them that put their trust in thee rejoice; they
