SATURDAY MORNING.-FIFTH WEEK.

I

PSALM CXXXVIII.

WILL give thanks unto thee, O Lord, with my whole heart t; even before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy Name, because of thy loving-kindness and truth; for thou hast magnified thy Name, and thy Word, above all things.

When I called upon thee, thou heardest me, and enduedst my soul with much strength.

All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord; for they have heard the words of thy mouth.

Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord, that great is the glory of the Lord.

For though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly as for the proud, he beholdeth them afar off.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, yet shalt thou refresh me; thou shalt stretch forth thy hand upon the furiousness of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

The Lord shall make good his loving-kindness toward me; yea, thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever; despise not then the works of thine own hands.

Let us pray.

O GOD, Whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and to forgive, receive our humble petitions; and though we be tied and bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the piti

fulness of Thy great mercy loose us; for the honour of Jesus Christ our Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Who hast placed us together in life as members of one family, help us, this day, to be and to do to each other all that Thou requirest for our mutual well-being. May we study each other's welfare, and be willing to make both efforts and sacrifices to promote it. Let us, neither by word nor deed, wilfully give pain, or put one needless obstacle in the path of any. Make us cheerful in temper, diligent in duty, and considerate for all with whom we have to do. And honouring Thee, O God, above all else in our house, we humbly pray Thee to command here Thy blessing, even life for evermore; through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

O LORD, Who hast taught us that all our doings without charity are nothing worth, send Thy Holy Ghost and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of charity, the very bond of peace and of all virtues, without which, whosoever liveth is counted dead before Thee; grant this for Thine only Son Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

SATURDAY EVENING.-FIFTH WEEK.

P

PSALM CXLVI.

RAISE the Lord, O my soul; while I live will I praise the Lord; yea, as long as I have any being, I will sing praises unto my God.

O put not your trust in princes, nor in any child of man; for there is no help in them.

For when the breath of man goeth forth he shall turn again to his earth; and then all his thoughts perish.

Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help; and whose hope is in the Lord his God;

Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is; who keepeth his promise for ever;

Who helpeth them to right that suffer wrong; who feedeth the hungry.

The Lord looseth men out of prison; the Lord giveth sight to the blind.

The Lord helpeth them that are fallen; the Lord careth for the righteous.

The Lord careth for the strangers; he defendeth the fatherless and widow: as for the way of the ungodly, he turneth it upside down.

The Lord thy God, O Sion, shall be King for evermore, and throughout all generations.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.
Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

GRANT, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that we, who for our evil deeds do worthily deserve to be punished, by the comfort of Thy grace, may mercifully be relieved; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.

O ALMIGHTY GOD AND MERCIFUL FATHER, to Whom be long the issues of life and death, look down, we beseech Thee, in pity upon all who are in extreme age, or who, through other causes, have but a short time to live. In those who are expecting their departure hence, inspire an earnest desire to be ready, and effectually bless the means of preparation. Where the end is coming unforeseen and unexpected, let Thy allpervading Spirit awaken reflection, and in some way known to Thy infinite wisdom lead them to the One Saviour in Whom alone is life eternal. And may we ourselves, who know not what a day may bring forth, strive to leave no day's duty undone, and stand always ready, looking unto Jesus, and holding fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. At the time Thou seest best, receive us into everlasting habitations, for His merits Who died and rose again for us, Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Father of all mercies, we Thine unworthy servants do give Thee most humble and hearty thanks for all Thy goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all men. We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for Thine inestimable love in the

redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech Thee, give us that due sense of all Thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we show forth. Thy praise, not only with our lips but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to Thy service, and by walking before Thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to Whom, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who hast promised to hear the petitions of them that ask in Thy Son's Name, we beseech Thee mercifully to incline Thine ears to us that have made now our prayers and supplications unto Thee; and grant that those things which we have faithfully asked according to Thy will, may effectually be obtained, to the relief of our necessity, and the setting forth of Thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.
