Thou waterest her furrows, thou sendest rain into the little valleys thereof; thou makest it soft with the drops of rain, and blessest the increase of it.

Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy clouds drop fatness.

They shall drop upon the dwellings of the wilderness; and the little hills shall rejoice on every side.

The folds shall be full of sheep; the valleys also shall stand so thick with corn, that they shall laugh and sing.

Let us pray.

O GOD, Whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and to forgive, receive our humble petitions; and though we be tied and bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the pitifulness of Thy great mercy loose us for the honour of Jesus Christ our Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

O THOU Giver of all good things, accept our heartfelt thanks that our eyes are permitted to see the light of another Christian Sabbath day. Give us, we pray Thee, minds and hearts suited to it. Resting from our week-day cares and duties, may our thoughts rise toward Thee, and our steps be quickened in every good way. Let the sacred exercises in which we shall engage, leave their lasting mark for good upon our characters; and may our lives hereafter be richer in the fruits of righteousness; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

O HEAVENLY FATHER, Who hast purchased to Thyself an Universal Church by the precious blood of Thy dear Son, mercifully look upon the same; and to those ordained to any holy function give Thy grace and heavenly benediction; that both by their life and doctrine they may set forth Thy glory, and set forward the salvation of all men; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O HEAVENLY FATHER, Who has set mankind in families, for their mutual help and comfort in Thy service, send, we beseech Thee, Thy blessing upon all the families of the earth, and especially upon the homes of our own land. May the opportunities of family intercourse which this day will bring, be used to strengthen family ties, and to confirm our various households in the love and service of God. Teach all parents to show by precept and example the way of peace and good, and incline all children gladly to follow it. Upon our own household let a double portion of this spirit rest; and greatly strengthen, O Lord, our love to Thee and to each other; through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Saviour. Amen.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

SUNDAY EVENING.-FIRST WEEK.

B

PSALM I.

LESSED is the man that hath not walked in the counsel

of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners; and hath not sat in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law will he exercise himself day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the waterside; that will bring forth his fruit in due season.

His leaf also shall not wither; and look, whatsoever he doeth, it shall prosper.

As for the ungodly, it is not so with them; but they are like the chaff, which the wind scattereth away from the face of the earth.

Therefore the ungodly shall not be able to stand in the judgement; neither the sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

But the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, and the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Amen.

WE bless Thy holy Name, O Lord, for what our eyes have seen, and our ears have heard, this day. May the results to ourselves, and all to whom Thy word has come, prove both good and lasting; and may our profiting appear. Let the good thoughts and resolutions that have stirred within us while we waited upon God in His house, follow us into the occupations of the coming week. May every succeeding day of our lives show the fruit of some seed sown to-day in honest and

good hearts, to the edifying of Thy Church, the establishing of Thy truth, and the glory of Thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

O GOD, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Saviour, the Prince of Peace; Give us grace, seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions. Take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatsoever else may hinder us from godly union and concord: that as there is but one Body and one Spirit, and one hope of our calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of us all, so we may henceforth be all of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of Truth and Peace, of Faith and Charity; and may with one mind and one mouth glorify Thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O LORD, we beseech Thee to keep Thy Church and household continually in Thy true religion; that they who do lean only upon the hope of Thy heavenly grace, may evermore be defended by Thy mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY FATHER, be pleased to hear us now imploring Thy protection for our bodies and souls while we sleep. Let no ghostly enemy steal away the good seed from our hearts, and no evil happen to our habitation. Free from molestation and alarm, may we and all dear to us rest: and in the morning may we rise to new duties, with new strength, and God always near to guide and aid us; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

MONDAY MORNING.-FIRST WEEK.

WHY

PSALM II.

HY do the heathen so furiously rage together, and why do the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his Anointed.

Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh them to scorn; the Lord shall have them in derision.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Yet have I set my King upon my holy hill of Sion.

I will preach the law, whereof the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Desire of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Thou shalt bruise them with a rod of iron, and break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

Be wise now therefore, O ye kings; be learned, ye that are judges of the earth.

Serve the Lord in fear, and rejoice unto him with rever

ence.

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and so ye perish from the right way, if his wrath be kindled, (yea, but a little,) blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
