OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

WEDNESDAY EVENING.-THIRD WEEK.

PSALM LXXVII. VERSE II.

WILL remember the works of the Lord; and call to mind thy wonders of old time.

I will think also of all thy works; and my talking shall be of thy doings.

Thy way, O God, is holy; who is so great a God as our God?

Thou art the God that doeth wonders; and hast declared thy power among the people.

Thou hast mightily delivered thy people; even the sons of Jacob and Joseph.

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee, and were afraid; the depths also were troubled.

The clouds poured out water, the air thundered, and thine arrows went abroad.

The voice of thy thunder was heard round about; the lightnings shone upon the ground; the earth was moved, and shook withal.

Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in the great waters; and thy footsteps are not known.

Thou leddest thy people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.
Christ have mercy upon us.
Lord have mercy upon us.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. The kingdom come. Amen.

WE humbly beseech Thee, O Father, mercifully to look upon our infirmities; and for the glory of Thy Name, turn from us all those evils that we most righteously have deserved; and grant that in all our troubles we may put our whole trust and confidence in Thy mercy, and evermore serve Thee in holiness and pureness of living to Thy honour and glory; through our only Mediator and Advocate, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O GOD, Who hast endowed us with the knowledge of right and wrong, we beseech Thee make us quick to discern and prompt to follow the thing that good is. May our consciences, like faithful sentinels, sound the alarm when sin is near, and may we never be heedless of the summons. If, through ignorance or unwatchfulness, we are ever overtaken in a fault, make us hasten to repair it, and return in penitence to Thee, Who waitest to be gracious to the contrite in heart. So may we end each day, as we pray to end this, trusting in Thy mercy, resting on Thy care, and waiting for Thy word of peace; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

O ALMIGHTY LORD and everlasting God, vouchsafe, we beseech Thee, to direct, sanctify, and govern, both our hearts and bodies, in the ways of Thy laws and in the works of Thy commandments; that through Thy most mighty protection, both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

LIGHTEN our darkness, we beseech Thee, O Lord; and by Thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of Thy only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

THURSDAY MORNING.-THIRD WEEK.

H

PSALM LXI.

EAR my crying, O God; give ear unto my prayer.

From the ends of the earth will I call upon thee, when my heart is in heaviness.

O set me up upon the rock that is higher than I; for thou hast been my hope, and a strong tower for me against the enemy.

I will dwell in thy tabernacle for ever; and my trust shall be under the covering of thy wings.

For thou, O Lord, hast heard my desires, and hast given an heritage unto those that fear thy Name.

♦ Thou shalt grant the King a long life; that his years may endure throughout all generations.

He shall dwell before God for ever: O prepare thy loving mercy and faithfulness, that they may preserve him.

So will I alway sing praise unto thy Name, that I may daily perform my vows.

Let us pray.

GRANT, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that we who for our evil deeds do worthily deserve to be punished, by the comfort of Thy grace may mercifully be relieved; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who knowest the perils that beset our way, dispose us, we pray Thee, this day to walk circumspectly,

not as fools but as wise. May we never choose the path of temptation, and never give place to the tempter. Keep back Thy servants from presumptuous sins; and may we be spared the sorer punishment due to wilful negligence or transgression. Sincerely aiming to walk uprightly, may we find Thy promised help supplied, and no good thing withheld from us; for the sake of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

O GOD the Fountain of all true wisdom, send, we pray thee, Thy blessing upon all schools of useful learning, and prosper every endeavour to train the young in the way they should go. May all teachers be themselves taught of Thee, and be animated by a sincere desire for the present and eternal welfare of those under their care. Let the warfare against ignorance and vice be waged with increasing success, and each succeeding generation of men become more enlightened and more upright than those that have gone before. May the love of God and man be more intense, and the ripened and abundant fruit of the Gospel of Christ become the heritage of our children's children for ever. Hear us, O heavenly Father, for Thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

O LORD OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, Almighty and everlasting God, Who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day, defend us in the same with Thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings may be ordered by Thy governance, to do always that is righteous in Thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass
