against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

THURSDAY EVENING.-THIRD WEEK.

PSALM LXXVI.

IN Jewry is God known; his Name is great in Israel.

At Salem is his tabernacle, and his dwelling in Sion. There brake he the arrows of the bow; the shield, the sword, and the battle.

Thou art of more honour and might than the hills of the robbers.

The proud are robbed, they have slept their sleep; and all the men whose hands were mighty have found nothing.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are fallen.

Thou, even thou art to be feared; and who may stand in thy sight when thou art angry?

Thou didst cause thy judgement to be heard from heaven; the earth trembled, and was still,

When God arose to judgement, and to help all the meek upon earth.

The fierceness of man shall turn to thy praise; and the fierceness of them shalt thou refrain.

Promise unto the Lord your God, and keep it, all ye that are round about him; bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

He shall refrain the spirit of princes, and is wonderful among the kings of the earth.

Let us pray.

Lord have mercy upon us.

Christ have mercy upon us.

Lord have mercy upon us.

OUR FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses; As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

O MOST GRACIOUS GOD, Who pardonest and absolvest all them that truly repent and unfeignedly believe Thy holy Gospel, grant us, we pray Thee, true repentance and Thy Holy Spirit; that those things may please Thee which we do at this present, and that the rest of our lives hereafter may be pure and holy so that at the last we may come to Thy eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

:

ALMIGHTY AND EVERLASTING GOD, Who dost govern all things in heaven and earth, mercifully hear the supplications of Thy people, and grant us Thy peace all the days of our life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O THOU Who art a very present help in trouble, mercifully hear our prayers for all who are at this time in distress. Be favourable to the poor and needy, giving them patience in adversity, inspiring them with hope, and leading them to the attainment of the true riches, which both abide and satisfy. Let all who are suffering from sickness, or the loss of children or dear friends, find sure comfort in Thee. Make all their bed in their sickness, and bestow health and soundness, or give grace to bear without repining, and to say, Thy will be

done. Lighten, O Lord, the pressure of human sorrow as far as shall seem good to Thee; and teach all sufferers to find in trial the way to happiness unending hereafter. For ourselves, we would bless Thy gracious hand for what it gives may we still bless it when it withholds, and may nothing in life or death sever us from Thee; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O LORD God, Who at this moment seest ourselves, and those dear to us whom we cannot see, shed Thy peace upon us all. Unite us in one bond of faith and hope and love, and cover us all with Thy protecting shield. Stand by us in the darkness of the night; and may we wake to find Thee still near to us. In Thy heaven, where there is no night, may we come nearer to Thee, and after the partings and separations of earth find an everlasting home; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

FRIDAY MORNING.-THIRD WEEK.

H

PSALM LI.

AVE mercy upon me, O God, after thy great goodness; according to the multitude of thy mercies do away mine offences.

Wash me throughly from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my faults, and my sin is ever before me. Against thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight; that thou mightest be justified in thy saying, and clear when thou art judged.

Behold, I was shapen in wickedness, and in sin hath my mother conceived me.

But lo, thou requirest truth in the inward parts, and shalt make me to understand wisdom secretly.

Thou shalt purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Thou shalt make me hear of joy and gladness, that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

Turn thy face from my sins, and put out all my misdeeds. Make me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy holy Spirit from me.

O give me the comfort of thy help again; and stablish me with thy free Spirit.

Then shall I teach thy ways unto the wicked; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, thou that art

the God of my health; and my tongue shall sing of thy righteousness.

Thou shalt open my lips, O Lord; and my mouth shall shew thy praise.

For thou desirest no sacrifice, else would I give it thee; but thou delightest not in burnt-offerings.

The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, shalt thou not despise.

O be favourable and gracious unto Sion; build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, with the burnt-offerings and oblations; then shall they offer young bullocks upon thine altar.

Let us pray.

O BLESSED SAVIOUR of the world, Who didst once upon the cross make a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction for sin, we beseech Thee to make us actual partakers of the benefits of Thy passion. Give us true repentance, and the remission of all our sins. Quicken and renew in our souls the new life of righteousness, and may every Christian virtue become fruitful in our lives. Having redeemed and sanctified us by Thy grace here, make us at length, O Lord, to be numbered with Thy saints, in glory everlasting, for Thy Name and mercy's sake.

Amen.

O LORD GOD, from Whom all good things do come, grant to us Thy humble servants, that by Thy holy inspiration we may think those things that be good, and by Thy merciful guiding may perform the same; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

ALMIGHTY GOD, our Maker and our Master, we here present anew our bodies and souls to be disposed of as Thou wilt, and employed in Thy service. Blessed be Thy Name, Who con
