IN closing the labours of the year, and sending forth another volume of the Biblical Treasury, the Editor desires gratefully to recognize the continued aid and co-operation of many friends. Chiefly designed to supply Sunday School Teachers with suitable illustrations of Bible truths, calculated to impress and enforce the lessons brought before their youthful charge, it is gratifying to know that this little publication has been favourably received by a large class of readers, who labour in other spheres of Christian usefulness, and that many ministers of the gospel testify to the help derived from its pages. "Illustration" is one of the great demands of the present day, and he who would successfully arouse the interest of an audience in any topic must either call in the aid of pictorial art, or weave into his discourse graphic delineations, and word-pictures incidental to his subject. |
