1 Salvation! O the joyful sound! What pleasure to our ears!

A sov'reign balm for every wound, |: A cordial for our fears. :||

2 Salvation! let the echo fly

The spacious earth around;
While all the armies of the sky
|: Conspire to raise the sound! :||

3 Salvation! O thou bleeding Lamb,
To thee the praise belongs;
Salvation shall inspire our hearts,
||: And dwell upon our tongues. :||

4 And when we join the heavenly throng, Upon that blissful shore :

Salvation then shall be the song,
|: The song forevermore. :||

1 In vain we lavish out our lives To gather empty wind;

I. WATTS.

The choicest blessings earth can yield ||: Will starve a hungry mind. :||

2 But God can every want supply,

And fill our hearts with peace : He gives by promise, and by oath, I: The riches of his grace. :||

1 Jesus, thou art the sinner's Friend; As such I look to thee;

Now in the fullness of thy love,
||: O Lord, remember me. :|!

2 Remember thy pure word of grace,
Remember Calvary ;
Remember all thy dying groans,
|: And then remember me. :||

3 Thou wondrous Advocate with God! I yield myself to thee;

While thou art sitting on thy throne,
||: O Lord, remember me. :||

4 Lord, I am guilty, I am vile,
But thy salvation's free ;
Then in thy all-abounding grace,
||: O Lord, remember me. :||

3 Come, and he'll cleanse our spotted 5 And wash away our stains.

[souls.

In that rich fountain which his Son |: Poured from his dying veins.: ||

And when I close my eyes in death,
And creature helps all flee,
Then, O my great Redeemer, God!
||: I pray, remember me. :||

AMAZING GRACE. C. M.

Arr. by G. E. LEE.

1. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me!

64

I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I

see!

'T was grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears re

lieved;

set-ting day, And spend the hours of set-ting day In hum - ble, grateful prayer.

1 Prayer is the breath of God in man, Returning whence it came;

|: Love is the sacred fire within, :|| And prayer the rising flame.

2 It gives the burdened spirit ease, And soothes the troubled breast; |: Yields comfort to the mourners here, :|| And to the weary rest.

3 When God inclines the heart to pray, He hath an ear to hear; |: To him there's music in a groan, :|| And beauty in a tear.

4 The humble suppliant cannot fail To have his wants supplied, ||: Since he for sinners intercedes, :|| Who once for sinners died. B. BEDDOME.

1 A throne of grace! then let us go And offer up our prayer;

|: A gracious God will mercy show :|| To all that worship there.

2 A throne of grace! O at that throne Our knees have often bent! [down:|| |: And God has showered his blessings As often as we went.

3 A throne of grace! rejoice, ye saints; That throne is open still;

|: Still let me trust thy power and love, :|||||: To God unbosom your complaints, :||

And dwell beneath thy feet.

A. STEELE.

And then inquire his will.

1 From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat;
'Tis found beneath the mercy-seat.
2 There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place than all besides more sweet;
It is the blood-bought mercy-seat.

3 Ah! whither could we flee for aid,
When tempted, desolate, dismayed!
Or how the hosts of sin defeat,
Had suffering saints no mercy-seat?
4 There, as on eagles' wings we soar,
And sin and sense molest no more;
And heaven comes down our souls to greet,
While glory crowns the mercy-seat.

1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne,
Make all my wants and wishes known;
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief;
|: And oft escaped the tempter's snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer! :||
2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear,
To him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless ;
