6 And thy Iffue which thou begetteft after them, shall be thine, and fhall be called after the Name of their Brethren in their Inheritance.

7 And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the Land of Canaan, in the Way, when yet there was but a little Way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the Way of Ephrath, the fame is Beth-lehem. 8 And Ifrael beheld Jofeph's Sons, and faid, Who are thefe ?

9 And Jofeph faid unto his Father, They are my Sons, whom God hath given me in this Place: And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will blefs them.

10 (Now the Eyes of Ifrael were dim for Age, so that he could not fee :) and he brought them near unto him; and he kiffed them, and embraced them.

II And Ifrael faid unto Jofeph, I had not thought to fee thy Face and lo, God hath fhewed me alfo thy Seed.

12 And Jofeph brought them out from between his Knees, and he bowed himself with his Face to the Earth.

13 And Jofeph took them both, Ephraim in his Right Hand towards Ifrael's Left Hand, and Manaffeh in his Left Hand toward Ifrael's Right Hand, and brought THEм near unto him.

14 And Ifrael ftretched out his Right Hand, and laid it upon Ehpraim's Head, who was the younger, and his Left Hand upon Manaffeh's Head: guiding his Hands wittingly; for Manaffeh was the firft-born.

15 And he bleffed Jofeph, and faid, GoD, before whom my Fathers Abraham and Ifaac did walk, the GoD which fed me all my Life long unto this Day,

16 The ANGEL which Heb. xi. 21 By FAITH JACOB when REDEEMED me from all E- he was a dying, bleffed both the Sons vil, BLESS the LADS; and of Jofeph; and worshipped leaning let my Name be named on upon the Top of his Staff.

them, and the Name of my Father Abraham and Ifaac: and let them grow into a Multitude in the Midst of the Earth.

17 And when Jofeph faw that his Father laid his Right Hand upon the Head of Ephraim, it difpleafed him and he held up his Father's Hand, to remove it from Ephraim's Head unto Manasseh's Head.

18 And Jofeph faid unto his Father, Not fo, my Father: for this is the firft-born; put thy Right Hand upon his Head.

19 And his Father refufed, and faid, I know it, my Son, I know it; he also fhall become a People, and he also shall be great but truly his younger Brother shall be greater than he, and his Seed fhall become a Multitude of Nations.

20 And he bleffed them that Day, faying, In thee fhall Ifrael blefs, faying, GOD make thee as Ephraim, and as Manaffeh and he fet Ephraim before Manaffeh.

21 And Ifrael faid unto Jofeph, Behold, I die; but GoB fhall be with you, and bring you again unto the Land of your Fathers.

CHAP. XLIX.

Jacob calleth his Sons to bless them: 3 Their Blessing in particular: 9 He chargeth them concerning his Burial: 39 His Death.

AND

ND Jacob called unto his Sons, and faid, Gather your felves together, that I may tell you that which fhall befal you in the last Days.

2 Gather your felves together, and hear ye Sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Ifrael your Father.

3 REUBEN, thou art my firft-born, my Might, and the Beginning of my Strength, the Excellency of Dignity, and the Excellency of Power.

4 Unstable as Water, thou fhalt not excel, because thou wentest up to thy Father's Bed: then defiledst thou it; he went up to my Couch.

5 SIMEON and LEVI are Brethren: Inftruments of Cru elty are in their Habitations.

6 O my Soul, come not thou into their Secret; unto their Affembly, mine Honour, be not thou united for in their Anger they flew a Man, and in their Self-will they digged down a Wall.

7 Curfed be their Anger, for it was fierce; and their Wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and fcatter them in Ifrael.

8 JUDAH, thou art he whom thy Brethren fhall praise thy Hand fhall be in the Neck of thine Enemies; thy Fa ther's Children fhall bow down before thee.

9 JUDAH is a Lion's Whelp; from the Prey, my Son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a Lion, and as an old Lion; who fhall roufe him up.

10* The SCEPTRE fhall not depart from JUDAH, nor a LAW-GIVER from between his FEET, until SHILOH come, and unto him fhall the GATHERING of the PEOPLE

7 Of the INCREASE of his GOVERNMENT and PEACE there fhall be No END, upon the THRONE of DAVID, and upon his KINGDOM.

16 DAN fhall judge his People, as one of the Tribes of Ifrael.

17 DAN fhall be a Serpent by the Way, an Adder in the Path; that biteth the Horfe Heels, fo that his Rider fhall fall backward.

18 I have waited for thy Salvation, O LORD.

19 GAD, a Troop fhall overcome him but he shall overcome at last.

*Note, This Prophecy relating to the Coming of the MESSIAH, was literally fulElled at the Time of OUR SAVIOUR's Birth, Herod an Idumean being then King of Judea.

zo Out of ASHER his Bread fhall be fat, and he fhall yield Royal Dainties.

21 NAPHTALI is a Hind let loofe: he giveth goodly Words.

22 JOSEPH is a fruitfu! Bough, even a fruitful Bough by a Well; whofe Branches run over the Wall.

23 The Archers have forely grieved him, and fhot at him, and hated him.

24 But his Bow abode in Strength, and the Arms of his Hands were made ftrong by the Hands of the mighty GoD of Jacob from thence is the Shepherd, the Stone of Ifrael.

25 Even by the GOD of thy. Father, who fhall help thee, and by the ALMIGHTY, who fhall blefs thee with Bleffings of Heaven above, Bleflings of the Deep that lieth under, Bleffings of the Breafts, and of the Womb.

26 The Bleffings of thy Father, have prevailed above the Bleffings of my Progenitors, unto the utmost Bound of the everlasting Hills; they fhall be on the Head of Joseph, and on the Crown of the Head of him that was feparate from his Brethren.

27 BENJAMIN fhall ravin as a Wolf: in the Morning he fhall devour the Prey, and at Night he fhall divide the Spoil.

28 All thefe are the twelve Tribes of Ifrael: and this is it that their Father fpake unto them, and bleffed them; every one according to his Bleffing, he bleffed them.

29 And he charged them, and faid unto them, I am to be gathered unto my People: bury me with my Fathers, in the Cave that is in the Field of Ephron the Hittite.

30 In the Cave that is in the Field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the Land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the Field of Ephron the Hittite, for a Poffeffion of a Burying-place.

31 (There they buried Abraham and Sarah his Wife, there they buried Ifaac and Rebekah his Wife, and there I buried Leah.)

32 The Purchase of the Field, and of the Cave that is therein, was from the Children of Heth.

33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his Sons, he gathered up his Feet into the Bed, and yielded up the Ghoft, and was gathered unto his People,

The Mourning for Jacob. 7 The Funeral. 24 Joseph prophefieth to his Brethren of their Return: 26 His Death.

Ver. 1 AND Jofeph fell upon his Father's Face, and wept

upon him, and kiffed him.

z And Jofeph commanded his Servants the Physicians to embalm his Father: and the Physicians embalmed Ifrael.

15 And when Jofeph's Brethren faw that their Father was dead, they faid, Jofeph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the Evil which we did unto him.

16 And they fent Meffengers unto Jofeph, faying, Thy Father did command before he died, faying,

17 So fhall ye fay unto Jofeph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the Trespass of thy Brethren, and their Sin; for they did unto thee Evil: And now, we pray thee, forgive the Trefpafs of the Servants of the GOD of thy Father. And Jofeph wept when they fpake unto him.

18 And his Brethren alfo went and fell down before his Face and they faid, Behold, we be thy Servants.

19 And Jofeph faid unto them, Fear not for am I in the Place of GOD?

20 But as for you, ye thought Evil against me; but GOD meant it unto Good, to bring to pafs, as it is this Day, to fave much People alive.

21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you and your Little ones. And he comforted them, and fpake kindly unto them.

22 And Jofeph dwelt in Egypt, he and his Father's Houfe: and Jofeph lived an hundred and ten Years.

23 And Jofeph faw Ephraim's Children of the third Generation: the Children alfo of Machir the Son of Manafleh, were brought up upon Jofeph's Knees.

24 And JOSEPH faid unto his Brethren, I die: and GOD will furely vifit you, and

LAND, unto the Land which he fware to Abraham, to Ifaac,
