* Deborah.-The learned editor of Labbe tells us, that this word has the pequltimate long, both in Greek and Hebrew; and yet he observes that our clergy, when reading the Holy Scriptures to the people in English, always pronounce it with the accent on the first syllable; " and why not," says he, “when they place "the accent on the first syllable of orator, auditor, and successor?
