29 The most beautiful rose will at length fade.

30 Forget not in thy youth to be mindful of thy end.

The lovely rose of June how fair!
How soon it fades away!

But Sharon's rose, beyond compare,
More bright, will ne'er decay:
"Twill flourish in immortal bow'rs

In Paradise above,

Where perfect saints employ their hours
In harmony and love.

JUNE.

HAPPY they who rightly learn
God in nature to discern.

Stars that deck night's diadem
Glitter not in vain for them:
Suns and moons with placid rays
Wear away their mortal days.
Rippling stream, the torrent's roar,
Fertile plain, the sandy shore,

Tranquil lake, the raging sea,

Lowly flower and stately tree,
Raise their thoughts and hopes above
To Almighty power and love.

Reader, nature now appears

In the loveliest form she wears;
While she sweetly smiles on thee,
In his works thy Maker see:
Seize the present fleeting hour,
Now Almighty love and power
Bids all nature in her prime
Tell thee of the flight of time:
Weak and helpless child of dust,
Make the arm of strength thy trust;
Sin pervades each human breast,
Make the God of love thy rest.
