Testamentum in Novo revelatur.
The following work was the occupation and solace of the last illness of the Author, and was left incomplete on his death. It had been intended by him for publication, and both from its subject and the character of its composition is a suitable memorial of a mind at once active and serene,—deeply interested in the histories both of nature and of man, apprehensive of the Divine Hand in all he found in them, and contemplating with an unclouded faith the tokens they exhibit of Divine Love and Wisdom.
He was born in London on February 21, 1798; went to Harrow School in 1812 ; entered as a commoner at Trinity
