Lights burning;

36. And ye your felves like unto Men that WAIT for the Lord, when he will return from the Wedding, that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

37. Bleffed are thofe Servants, whom the Lord when he cometh fhall find watching: verily, I fay unto you, that he fhall gird himself, and make them to fit down to Meat, and will come forth and ferve them.

38. And if he fhall come in the fecond Watch, or come in the third Watch, and find them fo, bleffed are thofe Servants.

39. And this know, that if the good Man of the House had known what Hour the Thief would come, he would have WATCHED, and not have fuffered his House to be broken through.

40. Be ye therefore ready alfo: for the Son of Man cometh at an Hour when ye think not.

41. Then Peter faid unto him, Lord, fpeakeft thou this Parable unto us, or even to all?

42. And the Lord faid, Who then is that faithful and wife Steward, whom his Lord fhall make Ruler over his Houfhold, to give them their Portion of Meat in due Seafon?

43. Bleffed is that Servant, whom his Lord when he cometh fhall find fo doing.

44. Of a Truth I fay unto you, that he will make him Ruler over all that he hath.

45. But, and if that Servant fay in his Heart, My Lord delayeth his coming; and fhall begin to beat the Men Servants, and Maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken :

46. The Lord of that Servant will come in a Day when he looketh not for him, and at an Hour when he is not ware, and will cut him in funder, and will appoint him his Portion with the UNBELIEVERȘ,

47. And

47. And that Servant which knew his Lord's Will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his Will, fhall be beaten with many Stripes.

48. But he that knew not, and did commit Things worthy of Stripes, fhall be beaten with few Stripes. For unto whomfoever much is given, of him fhall be much required and to whom Men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

49. I am come to fend Fire on the Earth, and what will 1, if it be already kindled?

50. But I have a Baptifm to be baptized with, and how am I ftraitned, till it be accomplished!

51. Suppofe ye that I am come to give PEACE on Earth? 1 tell you, Nay; but rather DIVISION.

52. For from henceforth there fhall be five in one House divided, three against two, and two against three.

53. The Father fhall be divided against the Son, and the Son against the Father: the Mother against the Daughter, and the Daughter against the Mother: the Mother in Law against her Daughter in Law, and the Daughter in Law against her Mother in Law.

54. And he faid alfo to the People, When ye fee a Cloud rife out of the Weft, ftraightway ye fay, there cometh a Shower; and fo it is.

55. And when ye fee the South Wind blow, ye fay, There will be Heat; and it cometh to pass.

56. Ye HYPOCRITES, ye can difcern the Face of the Sky, and of the Earth: but how is it that ye do not difcern this Time?

57. Yea, and why even of your felves judge ye not what is right?

58. When thou goeft with thine Adverfary to the Magiftrate, as thou art in the Way, give Diligence that thou mayft be delivered from him; left he hale thee to the Judge, and the Judge deliver thee to the Officer, and the Officer caft thee into Prifon.

59. I tell thee, thou fhalt not depart thence till thou haft payed the very last Mite (g.)

(g) Deut. iv. 7. For what Nation is there fo great, who hath GOD fo NICH unto them, as the Lord our God is in all Things that we call upon him for.

8. And what Nation is there fo great, that hath STATUTES and JUDGMENTS fo righteous, as all this Law which I fet before you this Day?

9. Only

9. Only take HEED to thy felf, and keep thy SouL diligently, left thou forget the Things which thine Eyes have feen, and left they DEPART from thy HEART all the Days of thy Life: but teach them thy Sons, and thy Sons Sons.

34. For the Son of Man is as a Man taking a far Journey, who left his Houfe, and gave Authority to his Servants, and to every Man his Work, and commanded the Porter to WATCH.

35. WATCH ye therefore (for ye know not when the Mafter of the House cometh; at Even, or at Midnight, or at the Cockcrowing, or in the Morning)

36. Left coming SUDDENLY, he find you SLEEPING.

37. And what I fay unto you, I fay unto all, WATCH.

Luke xxi. 34. And take HEED to your felves, left at any time your Heart be overcharged with Surfeiting and Drunkenness, and CARES of this Life, and fo that DAY come upon you UNAWARES.

35. For as a SNARE fhall it come on all them that dwell on the Face of the whole Earth.

36. WATCH ye therefore, and PRAY always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these Things that fhall come to pass, and to ftand before the Son of Man.

1 Cor. x. 11. Now all thefe Things happened unto them (the Ifraelites) for Enfamples and they are written for our Admonition, upon whom the Ends of the World are come.

12. Wherefore let him that thinketh he STANDETH, TAKE HEED left he fall.

4. And faying, Where is the PROMISE of his COMING? For fince the Fathers fell asleep, all Things continue as they were from the Beginning of the Creation.

5. For this, they willingly are ignorant of, that by the WORD of Gon the Heavens were of old, and the Earth standing out of the Water, and in the Water.

8. But beloved, be not ignorant of this one Thing, that ONE DAY is with the Lord as a THOUSAND YEARS, and a THOUSAND YEARS as ONE DAY.

9. The Lord is not SLACK concerning his PROMISE, (as fome Men count SLACKNESS) but is long-fuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perifh, but that all fhould come to REPEN

TANCE.

10. But the DAY of the LORD will come as a THIEF in the Night; in the which the HEAVENS fhall pafs away with a great NOISE, and the ELEMENTS fhall MELT with fervent Heat; the Earth alfo, and the Works that are therein, fhall be burnt up.

11. Seeing then that all these Things fhall be DISSOLVED, what manner of Perfons ought ye to be in all holy CONVERSATION and GODLINESS.

12. And behold, I come quickly; and my Reward is with me, to give every Man according as his Work fhall be.

20. He which teftifieth thefe Things, faith furely, I COME Even fo come Lord Jesus. QUICKLY. Amen.

HEN came to him the Mother of Zebedee's Children, with her Sons, worshipping him, and defiring a certain Thing of him. And he faid unto her, What wilt thou? [M] But Jefus answered and faid [Ar] unto them, [M] Ye know not what ye atk. Are ye able to drink of the Cup that I fhall drink of, and to be baptized with the Baptifm that I am baptized with? They fay unto him, We are able. [Mr.] And Fefus faid unto them, [M] Ye fhall drink indeed of my Cup, and be baptized with the Baptifm that I am baptized with: [Mr.] but to fit on my right Hand and on my left Hand, is not mine to give; but it fhall be given to them for whom it is prepared [M] of my Father. And when the Ten heard it, they were moved with Indignation against the two Brethren, [Mr.] James and John.
