From Shame to Silence to Solace in the Lord
Xulon Press, 2007 - 200 pages
This story is one that is not unusual in the Christian community, although it is one that is rarely discussed for the fear of shame, rejection and disbelief if this subject is mentioned. Christians want to think that abuse is only present in the secular world. Tony grew up with unemployed, alcoholic, and abusive males, who were his mother's boyfriends. In his adult life, he played the "Christian Game" for many years in order to get what he wanted. You will be amazed when you see the turn of events that caused him to hit rock bottom. You will meet Diane, who meets Tony at Church. With no love between them, they marry anyway. Travel with us as you see one downward spiral after another in their lives. There is a Balm in Gilead to heal the wounded soul and make the sin sick whole. God called Tresa Smith-Cullins into the ministry of sharing at an early age at Beulah Baptist Church in Macon, GA. She held to His promises, not knowing when He would bring them to fruition. She knew that she had to decrease so that God could increase. Thirty-five years later, God guided her to write her thoughts to make them plain to assist others. She found comfort in creative writing by penning stage plays with Christian themes while recovering from an illness that caused her to leave her employment. Tresa Smith-Cullins owes her literary debut to fact that she was one of the fortunate ones who survived domestic abuse, and she wanted to share with others how abuse need not be a way of living. "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118: 25) Celebrate Jesus!

Page xiii - And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could i,n no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
