PREFACE. HE publication of these Lectures has been delayed much longer than I anticipated. Whilst making a great effort to complete them in the Autumn of 1869, the loving Master laid me on one side by sickness. . They are now sent forth, to accompany the first volume, in the humble hope that they may prove a comfort to some who are weary. The shortness of the Discourses will especially adapt them to the sick room. The Song is redolent with sympathy, and none need it more than those who are passing under the rod. Further, I know, by experience, that many, who otherwise would not do so, are induced to read such works if they are not too long. May I ask the children of God who peruse these pages to breathe one short prayer for a blessing upon all into whose hands this little volume may fall. KINGSTOWN 1870. |
