PREFACE. THERE are at present in Europe three manuscripts containing the "Book of Enoch," which have been translated by the Archbishop of Cashel. They are written in the ancient Ethiopic or Geez character, and were all brought to Europe by Mr. Bruce, on his return from Abyssinia. One of them was presented by him to the Bodleian library, another to the library at Paris, and the third still remains among the manuscripts collected during his travels, which are now in the possession of his family. The following observations relate solely to the translation of the Archbishop of Cashel, which was made from the manuscript preserved in the Bodleian library, with the aid of collations from the Paris manuscript also.
