who helpeth us, and poureth his benefits upon

us.

20 He is our God, even the God of whom cometh salvation : God is the Lord, by whom we

escape death.

21 God shall wound the head of his enemies : and the hairy scalp of such a one as goeth on still in his wickedness.

22 The Lord hath said, I will bring my people again, as I did from Basan : mine own will I bring again, as I did sometime from the deep of the

sea.

23 That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies : and that the tongue of thy dogs may be red through the same.

24. It is well seen, O God, how thou goest : how thou, my God and King, goest in the sanctuary.

25 The singers go before, the minstrels follow after : in the midst are the damsels playing with the timbrels.

26 Give thanks, O Israel, unto God the Lord in the congregations : from the ground of the heart.

27 There is little Benjamin their ruler, and the princes of Judah their counsel : the princes of Zabulon, and the princes of Nephthali.

28 Thy God hath sent forth strength for thee : stablish the thing, O God, that thou hast wrought 29 For thy temple's sake at Jerusalem : so shall kings bring presents unto thee.

in us.

30 When the company of the spear-men, and multitude of the mighty are scattered abroad among the beasts of the people, so that they humbly bring pieces of silver : and when he hath scattered the people that delight in war;

31 Then shall the princes come out of Egypt : the Morians' land shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.

32 Sing unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth : O sing praises unto the Lord ;

33 Who sitteth in the heavens over all from the beginning : lo, he doth send out his voice, yea, and that a mighty voice.

34 Ascribe ye the power to God over Israel : his worship, and strength is in the clouds.

35 O God, wonderful art thou in thy holy places : even the God of Israel; he will give strength and power unto his people; blessed be God.

Glory be to the FATHER, &c.
V. The SPIRIT of GOD. Alleluia.
R. Moved upon the face of the waters. Alleluia.

Collect. O GOD the Holy Ghost, Who knowest me to be weak, and in need of Thy strength, ignorant, and in need of Thy wisdom, dark, and in need of Thy light : Come, Thou that art the raiser of the fallen ; come, Thou that art the Star of the tempesttost; come, Thou that art the Teacher of the humble; come, Thou that art the Father of the orphans: and dwelling in Thy temple, which is my body, and purifying Thy shrine, which is my soul, so guard me in the way, that I may finally merit to behold the Beatific Vision in my country: Who livest and reignest with the FATHER, and the Son, One GOD: world without end. Amen.

V. God kindle the fire of His love in our hearts. R. Amen.

PRIME.

Our FATHER.
I believe.
V. O GOD, make speed to save us.
R. O LORD, make haste to help us.

V. Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son, and to the Holy GHOST.

R. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.

Alleluia.

The Hymn.
Thus God's truth can never fail,

Nor His promise vary :
And Incarnate was the Son

Of the Virgin Mary.

Laboured, suffered, on the Cross

All His passions ended :
Died, was buried, rose again,

And to heaven ascended.

Antiphon. This God is our God for ever and ever : He shall be our guide even unto death.

Psalm xlviii. i Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised : in the city of our God, even upon his holy hill.

2 The hill of Sion is a fair place, and the joy of the whole earth : upon the north-side lieth the city of the great King; God is well known in her palaces as a sure refuge.

3 For lo, the kings of the earth : are gathered, and gone by together.

4. They marvelled to see such things : they were astonished, and suddenly cast down.

5 Fear came there upon them, and sorrow : as upon a woman in her travail.

6 Thou shalt break the ships of the sea : through the east-wind.

7 Like as we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God : God upholdeth the same for ever.

8 We wait for thy loving-kindness, O God : in the midst of thy temple.

90 God, according to thy Name, so is thy praise unto the world's end : thy right hand is full of righteousness.

10 Let the mount Sion rejoice, and the daughter of Judah be glad : because of thy judgments.

11 Walk about Sion, and go round about her : and tell the towers thereof. 12 Mark well her bulwarks, set up her houses

tell them that come after. 13 For this God is our God for ever and ever : he shall be a guide unto death.

Glory be to the FATHER, &c.
V. The SPIRIT the Paraclete. Alleluia.
R. Shall teach you all things. Alleluia.

The Collect. O GOD the Holy Ghost, Who knowest me to be impure, and in need of Thy purity, listless, and in need of Thy quickening, dead, and in need of Thy life: grant that like as we have heard of Thy dealings with others, when Thou didst endue the Martyrs with courage, and the Confessors with zeal, and the Virgins with chastity, and the eyes of the penitent with rivers of waters : so I may see these Thy loving-kindnesses for myself, and may feel Thee to be a very present help; that hereafter I

may walk about Sion, that Hill of Sion which is the joy of the whole earth : where Thou livest and reignest with the FATHER and the Son, GoD to all ages of ages. Amen.
