6. Thou wilt deftroy them that fpeak falfehood; the Lord abhorreth the bloody and deceitful man. 7. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy; and in thy fear will I worship at thy holy temple. 8. Lead me, O Lord, for thy righteousness fake; because of mine enemies, make thy way straight before my face. 9. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth, their inward part is very wickedness ; wickedness; their throat is an open fepulchre, while they flatter with their tongue. 10. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own councils; caft them out in the multitude of their tranfgreffions, for they have rebelled against thee. 11. But let all those that put their truft in thee rejoice, let them ever fhout for joy, because thou defendest them; let them alfo that love thy name be joyful in thee. 12. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous, with favour wilt thou compafs him, as with a fhield. A Pfalm of David when afflicted with fome bodily fickness, and the infulting malice of his enemies. I. My foul alfo is Lord, how long? fore troubled; but thou, O 4. Return, O Lord! deliver my foul; O fave me for thy mercy's fake. 5. For in death there is no remembrance of thee; in the grave who fhall pay thee homage? 6: I have fainted in my mourning; all the night long make I my bed to swim, and water my couch · with my tears. 7. Mine eyes are confumed for very trouble ; they wax dim because of all mine enemies. 8. Depart from me all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping. 9. The Lord hath heard my fupplication, the Lord will receive my prayer. 10. Let all mine enemies be put to fhame and fore vexed, again let them be put to shame. PSALM VII. A Pfalm of David on occafion of fome falfe accufation of treafon and confpiracy against Saul, in which he afferts his innocence, and appeals to the just judgment of God. 1. O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust, fave me from all that perfecute me, and deliver me. 2. Left he tear my foul like a lion; and rend it in pieces while there is none to deliver. 3. O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there be iniquity in my hands. 4. If I have rewarded evil unto him that injured me; or have oppreffed him that without cause is mine enemy. 5. Let the enemy perfecute my foul and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. 6. Arife O Lord, in thine anger lift thyfelf up, because of the rage of mine enemies, and roufe thyself for my fake. B 7. Thou haft commanded judgment, and the congregation of the people fhall compafs thee about; thou fhalt exalt thyself over them again. 8. The Lord fhall judge the people; give fentence for me, O Lord, according to my righteoufnefs, and reward me according to my integrity. 9. Let the iniquity of the wicked come to an end; but do thou establish the juft. 10. God who trieth the hearts and reins is righteous; God who faveth the upright in heart is my fhield. 11. God is a righteous judge, and is not always angry. 12. If a man will not return, he will whet his fword; he bendeth his bow and maketh it ready. 13. He prepareth for him the inftruments of death; and ordaineth his arrows for those who perfecute. 14. Behold, he hath conceived mischief; he travaileth with iniquity, and hath brought forth falfehood. 15. He hath digged a pit and hollowed it; and is fallen into the ditch which he made. 16. His mischief returneth upon his own head, and his violent dealing cometh down on his own pate. 17. I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness ; and will fing unto the name of the Lord most high. PSALM VIII. Thou haft made him little lower than the angels, and haft crowned him with glory and honour. 6. Thou madeft him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou haft put all things under his feet. 7. All flocks and herds, and alfo the wild beafts of the field. 8. The fowls of the air, and the fishes of the fea; and whatsoever paffeth through the paths of the waters. |
