64 Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and... not evil --Jo ii. 10.

1OD sendeth sun, He sendeth shower;

GOD

Alike they're needful for the flower;

And joys and tears alike are sent

To give the soul fit nourishment:

As comes to me or cloud or sun,

Father, Thy will, not mine, be done.

2 Can loving children e'er reprove,

With murmurs, those they trust and love?
Creator! I would ever be

A trusting, loving child to Thee:

As comes to me or cloud or sun,
Father, Thy will, not mine, be done.

3 0 ne'er will I at life repine;

Enough that Thou hast made it mine;
When falls the shadow cold of death,
I yet will sing with parting breath,
As comes to me or cloud or sun,
Father, Thy will, not mine, be done.

The second man is the Lord from heaven.-1 COR. XV. 47.

1 PRAISE to the Holiest in the height,

in the depth be praise;

In all His words most wonderful,
Most sure in all His ways.

mf 20 loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
A second Adam to the fight,
And to the rescue came.

30 wisest love! that flesh and blood,

Which did in Adam fail,
Should strive afresh against the foe,
Should strive and should prevail;

4 And that a higher gift than grace
Should flesh and blood refine,-
God's presence, and His very self,
And essence all-Divine.

5 O generous love! that He, who smote
In Man for man the foe,

dim The double agony in Man

For man should undergo;

p 6 And in the garden secretly,

And on the cross on high,
Should teach His brethren, and inspire
To suffer and to die!

ƒ 7 Praise to the Holiest in the height,
And in the depth be praise;
In all His words most wonderful,
Most sure in all His ways.

1 COR. xv. 10.

LL that I was, my sin, my guilt,

AL

My death, was all my own;

All that I am I owe to Thee,

My gracious God, alone.

The evil of my former state
Was mine, and only mine;

The good in which I now rejoice
Is Thine, and only Thine.
The darkness of my former night,
The bondage, all was mine;
The light of life in which I walk,
The liberty, is Thine.

4 Thy grace that made me feel my sin,
Bade me in Christ believe:
Then, in believing, peace I found,
And now in Christ I live.

5 All that I am, e'en here on earth,
All that I hope to be

When Jesus comes, and glory dawns, I owe it, Lord, to Thee.

H. Bonar.
