revealed in the last time-wherein ye greatly rejoice.

2" For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. And as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. And when Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory; who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. It doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

"Behold, I shew you a mystery: we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment in the twinkling of an eye-at the last trump. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory.'

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be

to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

9"None of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. And to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. 11 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ."

Chapter Sixth.

THE CHRISTIAN LUKEWARM.

The danger of coldness of heart.

1" THE Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold; but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called 'to-day;' lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in

the faith; prove your own selves.-"Let us fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. "For if we suffer, we shall also reign with him: but if we deny him, he also will deny us."

The Saviour's displeasure incurred.

"These things saith He that liveth, and was dead, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would that thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.'

6"Whosoever shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father who is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 'No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. And he that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Remember there

Prayer for quickening grace.

4 Rev. ii, 4. 8 Matt. x, 37.

"Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord, for I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Wilt thou not revive me again: that I may rejoice in thee? Quicken me, O Lord, according to thy loving kindness; 40 Lord, revive thy work. 5 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free Spirit. "Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way."

Exhortation to zeal towards God.

1 "Seeing that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession; and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works; not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together. For it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing.
