27 So God created man in his own image: in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them.

28 And God bleffed them, and God faid unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and fubdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the fea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God faid, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing feed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding feed: to you it shall be for

the earth were finished, and all the hoft of them.

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the feventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God bleffed the feventh day, and fanctified it : because that in it he had rested from all his work, which God created and made.

4 These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth, when they were created; in the day that the Lord God made the earth, and the heavens.

5 And every plant of the field, before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it for the grew: Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

6 But there went up a mift from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,

ground, and breathed into his noftrils the breath of life: and man became a living foul.

8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleafant to the fight, and good for food: the tree of life alfo in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

dress it and to keep it.

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayeft freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou fhalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou fhalt furely die.

18 And the Lord God faid, It is not good that the man fhould be alone: I will make him an help meet for him.

19¶ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the

10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden: and from thence it was part-field, and every fowl of the ed, and became into four heads.

II The name of the firft is Pifon that is it which compaffeth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx-ftone.

13 And the name of the fecond river is Gihon: the fame is it that compaffeth the whole land of Ethiopia.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beaft of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21 And the Lord God caused a deep fleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and clofed up the flesh instead thereof..

15 And the Lord God 22 And the rib which the took the man, and put him | Lord God had taken from into the garden of Eden to man, made he a woman, and

brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam faid, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: fhe fhall be called Woman, becaufe fhe was taken out of man.

24 Therefore fhall a man leave his father and his mother, and fhall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one fiefh.

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

CHAP. III.

NOW

OW the ferpent was more subtle than any beaft of the field which the Lord God had made: and he faid unto the woman, Yea, hath God faid, Ye fhall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman faid unto the ferpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden;

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midft of the garden, God hath faid, Ye shall not eat of it, neither fhall ye touch it, left ye die.

die.

4 And the ferpent faid unto the woman, Ye fhall not surely die.

5 For God doth know, that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes fhall be opened; and ye fhall be as gods,

knowing good and evil :

6 And when the woman faw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleafant to the eyes, and a tree to be defired to make ane wife; fhe took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave alfo unto her husband with her, and he did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked: and they fewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves

aprons.

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the prefence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he faid, I heard thy voice in the garden: and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.

II And he faid, Who told thee that thou wat naked? haft thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee, that thou fhouldeft, not eat?

12 And the man faid, The woman whom thou gaveft to be with me, fhe gave me of the tree, and i did eat.

13 And the Lord God | the field. faid unto the woman, What is this that thou haft done? and the woman faid, The ferpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the Lord God faid unto the serpent, Because thou haft done this, thou art curfed above all cattle, and above every beaft of the field: upon thy belly fhalt thou go, and duft fhalt thou eat all the days of thy life.

15 And I will put enmity between thee and, the woman, and between thy feed and her feed: it fhall bruife thy head, and thou fhalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he faid, I will greatly multiply thy forrow and thy conception in forrow thou fhalt bring forth children; and thy defire fhall be to thy hufband, and he fhall rule over thee.

17 And unto Adam he faid, Because thou hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and haft eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, faying, Thou shalt not eat of it: curfed is the ground for thy fake in forrow fhalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

18 Thorns alfo and thistles fhall it bring forth to thee: and thou shalt eat the herb of

19 In the fweat of thy face fhalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it waft thou taken : for duft thou art, and unto duft fhalt thou return.

20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; becaufe fhe was the mother of all living.

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

22 And the Lord God faid, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now left he put forth his hand and take alfo of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever;

23 Therefore the Lord God fent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So he drove out the man: and he placed at the eaft of the garden of Eden, Cherubims, and a flaming fword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

CHAP. VI.

5 ND God faw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the

thoughts

thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And the Lord faid, I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth both man and beaft, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace T in the eyes of the Lord.

9 These are the generations of Noah; Noah was a just man, and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

10 And Noah begat three fons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

II The earth alfo was corrupt before God; and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flefh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 And God faid unto Noah, The end of all flefh is come before me: for the earth is filled with violence through them and behold, I will deftroy them with the earth.

:

14 ¶ Make thee an ark of gopher-wood: rooms fhalt thou make in the ark, and fhalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 And this is the fashion which thou fhalt make it of the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16 A window fhalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit fhalt thou finifh it above; and the door of the ark fhalt thou fet in the fide thereof: with lower, fecond, and third ftories fhalt thou make it.

17 And behold, I, even I do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven: and every thing that is in the earth fhall die.

18 But with thee will I establish my covenant: and thou fhalt come into the ark; thou, and thy fons, and thy wife, and thy fons wives with thee.

19 And of every living thing of all flefh, two of every fort fhalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee: they shall be male and female.
