Revive them with Thy breath.
Each rising fear control,
To melt the icy soul.
To raise us when we fall;
And aid when sinners call.
And write it on our heart;
And there its peace impart. 5 Almighty Spirit, visit thus
Our hearts, and guide our ways;
And tune our lips to praise.
429 John xvl. 14. L. M. MONTGOMERY.
SPIRIT of the living God,
In all Thy plenitude of grace,
Descend on our apostate race.
To preach the reconciling word ;
Whene'er the joyful sound is heard. 3 Be darkness, at Thy coming, light;
Confusion, order in Thy path:
4 0 Spirit of the Lord, prepare
All the round earth her God to meet :
Till hearts of stone begin to beat.
The triumphs of the Cross record :
Till every kindred call Him Lord. 6 God from eternity hath will'd
All flesh shall His salvation see;
Acts x, 44. C. M. DODDRIDGE. 1
REAT Father of each perfect gift,
Behold Thy servants wait; With longing eyes and lifted hands,
We flock around Thy gate. 2 O shed abroad that royal gift,
Thy Spirit from above,
And fire our hearts with love.
And solid comfort bring,
His all-reviving wing.
Declare our sins forgiven, And bear with energy divine
Our raptured thoughts to heaven. 5 Diffuse, O God, those copious showers,
That earth its fruit may yield, And change this barren wilderness To Carmel's flowery field.
1 Cor. xil. 11. 148th M. 1 THOU that hearest prayer,
Attend our humble cry,
Thy blessing from on high :
Grant us Thy Holy Spirit, Lord. 2 If earthly parents hear
Their children when they cry;
Their children's wants supply;
And answer when Thy children pray. 3 Our heavenly Father Thou;
We, children of Thy grace;
Descend and fill the place,
And all unite to praise Thy name, 4 O may that sacred fire,
Descending from above,
With fervent zeal and love ;
And teach our grovelling souls to rise. 5 And send Thy Spirit down
On all the nations, Lord,
The preaching of Thy word;
And cast their idol-gods away.
Among our fallen race,
The temple of Thy grace;
Luke fil. 16. 112th M. DAVIES, 1 VTERNAL Spirit, source of light,
Enlivening, consecrating fire,
Come, condescending Spirit, come.
of the pure flame which seraphs feel,
come, And make our hearts Thy constant home. 3 Whatever guilt and madness dare,
We would not quench the heavenly fire ;
Come, purifying Spirit, come.
Let every pious passion glow;

1 OLY Spirit, from on high,
Animate the drooping heart,
Bid the power of sin departe 2 Light up every dark recess
of our hearts' ungodliness;
3 Teach us with repentant grief
Humbly to implore relief:
All our deep disease to heal.
hopes away ; Make us feel that Christ alone
Can for human guilt atone. 5 May we daily grow in grace,
And pursue the heavenly race:

CONDER. 1 breathe upon this languid frame,
Spirit of heavenly might.
Of purity and light.
On my heart's sacrifice,
In clouds of incense rise.
Of every good the source !
To speed me on my course.
