With humble faith I wait
To see Thy face again :

Of Israel it shall ne'er be said,

PSALM XXVII.

C. M.

WATTS

HE Lord of glory is my light,
And my salvation too;

God is my strength, nor will I fear
What all my foes can do.

2 One privilege my heart desires,-
O grant me an abode

Among the churches of Thy saints,
The temples of my God.

3 There shall I offer my requests,
And see Thy beauty still;
Shall hear Thy messages of love,
And there inquire Thy will.

4 When troubles rise, and storms appear,
There may His children hide;
God has a strong pavilion, where
He makes my soul abide.

5 Now shall my head be lifted high
Above my foes around,
And songs of joy and victory
Within Thy temple sound.

33 PSALM XXVII.

G

7.6. MONTGOMERY.

YOD is my strong_salvation, What foe have I to fear? In darkness and temptation, My light, my help is near:

Though hosts encamp around me,
Firm to the fight I stand:
What terror can confound me,
With God at my right hand?

2 Place on the Lord reliance;
My soul, with courage wait:
His truth be thine affiance,
When faint and desolate.
His might thy heart shall strengthen,
His love thy joy increase:
Mercy thy days shall lengthen ;
The Lord will give thee peace.

PSALM XXVIII.

LORD, my strength, to Thee I pray;

Turn not Thou Thine ear away;

Gracious to my vows attend,

While the humble knee I bend.

2 On Thy long expected aid
See my hope for ever stay'd:
Thou my shield, my fortress art;
Thou, the refuge of my heart.

3 Grant me, Lord, Thy love to share ;
Feed me with a shepherd's care;
Save Thy people from distress,
And Thy fold for ever bless.

35 PSALM XXIX.

7's.

C. M.

1 YE hosts of heaven, ye mighty ones,

Ascribe one accord

The strength, the power, the majesty,
To your Almighty Lord.

2 Give glory to His holy name,
And honour Him alone;
In beauty meet of holiness
Approach His holy throne.
3 Jehovah's voice of majesty
Is on the waters wide;
The God of glory thundereth,
And on wild seas doth ride.

4 Jehovah's voice hath fearful power;
It bids the lightnings fall;
It shakes the trembling wilderness,
And breaks the cedars tall.

5 Jehovah sits upon the floods,
And tempests rage in vain;
Jehovah sits as Sovereign King,
And evermore shall reign.

6 But to His people whom He loves
The Lord will strength increase,
And He will bless His chosen flock
With everlasting peace.

PSALM XXIX.

7'8.

SING, ye sons of men, O sing

MERRICK.

Praise to Heaven's eternal King:
Power and strength to God assign;
Bow before His hallow'd shrine.

2 Hark! His voice in thunder breaks;
Hush'd to silence while He speaks,
Ocean's waves, from pole to pole,
Hear the awful accents roll.

3 Now the bursting clouds give way,
And the vivid lightnings play;
Now the wilds, by man untrod,
Hear, dismay'd, the approaching God.

4 God the swelling surge commands; Fix'd, His throne for ever stands : God His people shall increase,

Arm with strength, and bless with peace.

PSALM XXX. L. M. WATTS.

At Thy command diseases fly:
Who but our God can speak and save
From the dark borders of the grave?

2 Sing to the Lord, ye saints of His,
And tell how large His goodness is;
Let all your powers rejoice and bless,
While you record His holiness.

3 His anger but a moment stays,
His love is life and length of days;
Though grief and tears the night employ,
The morning star restores the joy.

spirit on Thy care,

M Biest Saviour, I recline;

Thou wilt not leave me to despair,
For Thou art love divine.

In Thee I place my trust,

On Thee I calmly rest;

I know Thee good, I know Thee just,
And count Thy choice the best.

Whate'er events betide,

Thy will they all perform:

Safe in Thy breast my head I hide,

Nor fear the coming storm,

4 Let good or ill befall,
It must be good for me,
Secure of having Thee in all,
Of having all in Thee.

PSALM XXXI. C. M.

WATTS.

1

My heart rejoices in Thy name,

My God, my help, my trust;

Thou hast preserv'd my face from shame,
Mine honour from the dust.

2 My times are in Thy hand, I cried,
Though I draw near the dust;
Thou art the refuge where I hide,
The God in whom I trust.

3 O make Thy reconciled face
Upon Thy servant shine,

And save me for Thy mercy's sake,
For I am wholly Thine.

4 Thy goodness how divinely free;
How wondrous is Thy grace
To those that fear Thy majesty,
And trust Thy promises!

WORD, in Thy great, Thy glorious name,
I place my only trust;

Save me from sorrow, guilt, and shame,
Thou ever good and just!

2 Into Thy hand, O gracious Lord,
My spirit I resign;

O give me grace to trust Thy word,
For heavenly truth is Thine.
