THIS Summary view of a practicable and economical System of Education, to be employed chiefly as a means of conveying to the children of the inferior classes of society an early and just sense of religion and moral rectitude, is given to the public, for the purpose of demonstrating the great importance of wellconducted designs of this nature, as they relate to the national prosperity, and the unquestionable interest of the community at large.

The subject will be found interesting in the point of view in which it has been placed, inasmuch as it explains all that is necessary for giving effect to this new System of Evacation wherever it may be adopted.

If the impressions, which may be conveyed through this medium, shall produce a disposition on the part of the Legislature to accomplish the great object of a National Education for the Children of the Poor; or if they shall generally stimulate opulent and respectable individuals, wherever they may have local influence, to promote the same benevolent design-the Author will consider himself as amply repaid in the incalculable benefits which will thereby result to his country.
