corporate in the mystical Body of thy Son, which is the blessed company of all faithful people; and are alsó heirs through hope of thy everlasting kingdom, by the merits of the most precious death and passion of thy dear Son. And we most humbly beseech thee, O heavenly Father, so to assist us with thy grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good works as thou hast prepared for us to walk in, through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

Then shall be said,

Glory be to God on high, and in earth peace, good will towards men. We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee, we give thanks to thee for thy great glory, O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty.

O Lord, the only-begotten Son Jesu

Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us: Thou that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us: Thou that takest away the sins of the world, receive our prayer: Thou that sittest at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us.

For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord: and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you always. Amen.

SELECTION OF PSALMS

FOR THE USE OF

THOSE WHO VISIT AND READ TO THE SICK.

From the seven Penitential Psalms, viz. vi. xxxii. xxxviii. li. cii. cxxx. cxliii.

O Lord! rebuke me not in thine indignation, neither chasten me in thy displeasure!

Have mercy upon me, O Lord! for I am weak; O Lord! heal me, for I am vexed.

My soul also is sore troubled ;-Lord! how long wilt thou punish me?

Turn thee, O Lord! and deliver my soul;-O save me for thy mercy's sake! Thy hand is heavy upon me day and

night!-but I will acknowledge my sin unto thee; and mine unrighteousness will I not hide!

Put me not then to rebuke, O Lord! in thine anger; neither chasten me in thy heavy displeasure!

There is no health in my flesh, because of thy displeasure; neither is there any rest in my bones by reason of my sin.

For my wickednesses are come upon my head, and are like a sore burden, too heavy for me to bear.

I am brought into so great trouble and misery, that I go mourning all the day long.

But in thee, O Lord! have I put my trust; thou shalt defend me, O Lord my God!

For I will confess my wickedness, and be sorry for my sin.

Forsake me not then, O Lord my God! be not thou far from me!

Haste thee to help me, O Lord God of my salvation!

D

Have mercy upon me, O God! after thy great goodness; according to the multitude of thy mercies, do away mine offences.

Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin! For I acknowledge my faults, and my sin is ever before me.

Turn thy face from my sins, and put out all my misdeeds.

Make me a clean heart, O God! and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me!

O give me the comfort of thy help again, and stablish me with* thy free spirit.

The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O Lord! shalt thou not despise !

Thou shalt open my lips, O Lord! and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise !
