1 LORD LIEUTENANT OF IRELAND. A Prayer for the Chief Governor or Governors of No Chief Governor is to be prayed for until he be sworn. ALMIGHTY God, from whom all power is derived, We humbly beseech thee to bless thy Servant, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and grant that he may use the Sword, which our Sovereign Lord the King hath committed into his hand, with justice and mercy, according to thy blessed Will, for the protection of this People, and the true Religion established amongst us: Enlighten him with thy Grace, preserve him by thy Providence, and encompass him with thy Favour. Bless, we beseech thee, the whole Council, direct their Consultations to the advancement of thy Glory, the good of thy Church, the honour of his sacred Majesty, and the safety and welfare of this Kingdom: Grant this, O merciful Father, for Jesus Christ his sake, our only Saviour and Redeemer. Amen. Or, ALMIGHTY God, in whose hands all earthly power doth consist, We humbly beseech thee to bless Lord Lieutenant General and General Governor of Ireland; and grant that the Sword which our dread Sovereign Lord the King hath committed into his hand, he may wield in thy faith and fear, and use according to thy blessed Will and Word: Let thy Grace enlighten him, thy Goodness confirm him, and thy Providence protect him. Bless, we beseech thee, the whole Council, direct their Consultations to the advancement of thy Glory, the good of thy Church, the honour of his sacred Majesty, and the safety and welfare of this Kingdom. Grant this, O merciful Father, for Jesus Christ his sake, our only Saviour and Redeemer. Amen. |
