EPISTLE. James i. 17. 21.

EARLY beloved: Every excellent gift, and every

Father of lights, with whom there is no change or shadow of alteration. For of his own free will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruit of his creatures. This you know, dearly beloved. And let every man be forward to hear, but slow to speak, and slow to anger. For the anger of man fulfilleth not the justice of God. Wherefore casting off all uncleanness, and abundance of wickedness, receive, with

meekness, the word that is ingrafted in you, which is

able to save your souls.

T that time: Jesus said to his disciples: I am going to him that sent me; and none of you ask me, Whither goest thou? But because I have told you these things, your hearts are filled with sorrow. But tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go; for if I not, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he cometh, he will reprove the world concerning sin, concerning justice, and concerning judgment. Concerning sin; because they have not believed in me; and concerning justice; because I go to the Father, and you shall no longer see me; and concerning judgment; because the prince of this world is already judged. I have yet many more things to say to you; but you cannot bear them now. But when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that he shall speak, and he shall shew you the things that are to come. He shall glorify me; for he shall receive of that which is mine, and declare it to you. CREDO.

EPISTLE. James i. 22. 27.

EARLY beloved: Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For, if any one be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in the glass; for having viewed himself, he goeth away, and presently forgetteth what manner of man he was. * But he that attentively considereth the perfect law of liberty, and continueth in it, being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, that man shall be blessed in what he doth. And if any one think himself religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, that man's religion is vain. The pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep one's self unspotted from the world.

Alleluia, Alleluia. V. Christ is risen, and hath shone upon us, whom he hath redeemed with his blood. Alleluia. V. I came forth from the Father, and came into the world: I leave the world again, and go to the Father. Alleluia.

Alleluia, Alleluia. V. Surrexit Christus, et illuxit nobis, quos redemit sanguine suo. Alleluia. V. Exivi a Patre, et veni in mundum; iterum relinquo mundum, et vado ad Patrem. Alleluia.

GOSPEL. John xvi. 23. 30.

T that time; Jesus said to his disciples; Verily,

A Verily, I say to you; if you ask the Father any

thing in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be complete. These things I have spoke to you in parables; the time cometh, when I shall speak no more to you in parables, but speak to you plainly concerning the Father. In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I will pray the Father in your behalf; for the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and believed that I came forth from God. I came forth from the Father, and came into the world; I again leave the world, and
