PSALM CXI. C. M.

WATTS.

REAT is the Lord; His works of might

G Demand our noblest songs:

Let His assembled saints unite,
Their harmony of tongues.

2 Great is the mercy of the Lord;
He gives His children food;
And, ever mindful of His word,
He makes His promise good.

3 His Son, the great Redeemer, came
To seal His covenant sure;
Holy and reverend is His name,
His ways are just and pure.

4 They that would grow divinely wise
Must with His fear begin;

Our fairest proof of knowledge lies
In hating every sin.

PSALM CXIII. 7's.

CONDER.

ALLELUJAH! raise, O raise
To our God the song of praise :

HA

All His servants join to sing,
God our Saviour and our King.

2 Blessed be for evermore,

That dread name which we adore!
Round the world His praise be sung,
Through all lands, in every tongue.
3 O'er all nations, God alone,

Higher than the heavens His throne;
Who is like to God most high,
Infinite in majesty?

4 Yet to view the heavens He bends;
Yea, to earth He condescends;
Passing by the rich and great,
For the low and desolate.

5 He can raise the poor to stand
With the princes of the land;
Wealth upon the needy shower;
Set the meanest high in power.
6 He the broken spirit cheers;
Turns to joy the mourner's tears;
Such the wonders of His ways:
Praise His name, for ever praise.

PSALM CXIII.

113th M.

N. V.

E saints and servants of the Lord,
The triumphs of His name record,
His sacred name for ever bless;
Where'er the circling sun displays
His rising beams or setting rays,

Due praise to His great name address.

2 God through the world extends His sway; The regions of eternal day

But shadows of His glory are;
With Him whose majesty excels,
Who made the heaven in which He dwells,
Let no created power compare.

3 Though 'tis beneath His state to view
In highest heaven what angels do,
Yet He to earth vouchsafes His care;
He takes the needy from His cell,
Within His sacred courts to dwell,
Companion to the greatest there.

PSALM CXVI. C. M.

WATTS.

HAT shall I render to my God,
For all His kindness shewn?
My feet shall visit Thine abode,
My songs address Thy throne.

2 Among the saints who fill Thy house
My offerings shall be paid;
There shall my zeal perform the vows
My soul in anguish made.

3 How much is mercy Thy delight,
Thou ever-blessed God!

How dear Thy servants in Thy sight!
How precious is their blood!

4 How happy ali Thy servants are!
How great Thy grace to me!

My life, which Thou hast made Thy care, Lord, I devote to Thee.

5 Now I am Thine, for ever Thine, Nor shall my purpose move;

Thy hand hath loos'd my bonds of pain, And bound me with Thy love.

6 Here in Thy courts I leave my vow,
And Thy rich grace record;

Witness, ye saints, who hear me now,
If I forsake the Lord.

PSALM CXVII. S. M.

1 HY name, Almighty Lord,

THY

WATTS.

Shall sound through distant lands; Great is Thy grace, and sure Thy word, Thy truth for ever stands.

2 Far be Thine honour spread,

And long Thy praise endure,

Till morning light and evening shade
Shall be exchang'd no more.

PSALM CXVII. C. M.

WATTS.

ALL ye nations, praise the Lord,
Each with a different tongue;

In every language learn His word,
And let His name be sung.

2 His mercy reigns through every land;
Proclaim His grace abroad;
For ever firm His truth shall stand;
Praise ye the faithful God.

FROM

PSALM CXVII. L. M.

WATTS.

ROM all that dwell below the skies,
Let the Creator's praise arise;

Let the Redeemer's name be sung
Through every land, by every tongue.
2 Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord;
Eternal truth attends Thy word;

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.

158 PSALM CXVII. 7's. MONTGOMERY.

1

'A'

LL ye Gentiles, praise the Lord;
All ye lands, your voices raise:
Heaven and earth, with loud accord,
Praise the Lord, for ever praise.
2 For His truth and mercy stand,
Past, and present, and to be,
Like the years of His right hand,
Like His own eternity.

3 Praise Him, ye who know His love;
Praise Him from the depths beneath:
Praise Him in the heights above:
Praise your Maker, all that breathe.

PSALM CXVIIL C. M.

WATTS.

EHOLD the sure foundation stone
which God in Zion lays,

To build our heavenly hopes upon,
And His eternal praise.

2 Chosen of God, to sinners dear,
And saints adore the name:
They trust their whole salvation here,
Nor shall they suffer shame.

3 The foolish builders, scribe and priest,
Reject it with disdain ;

Yet on this Rock the church shall rest,
And envy rage in vain.

4 What though the gates of hell withstood,
Yet must this building rise;
"Tis Thine own work, Almighty God,
And wondrous in our eyes.

PSALM CXVIII. C. M.

1

WATTS

THIS is the day the Lord hath made,

He calls the hours His own;

Let heaven rejoice, let earth be glad,
And praise surround the throne.

2 To-day He rose and left the dead,
And Satan's empire fell;
To-day the saints His triumph spread,
And all His wonders tell.

3 Hosanna to th' anointed King,
To David's holy Son.

Help us, O Lord! descend and bring
Salvation from Thy throne.

4 Bless'd be the Lord, who comes to men, With messages of grace;

Who comes in God His Father's name,
To save our sinful race.

5 Hosanna in the highest strains

The church on earth can raise ; The highest heavens in which He reigns Shall give Him nobler praise.
