Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him. 3. PSALM 8. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth! Who hast set Thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies; that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider the heavens, the ' work of Thy fingers; the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels; and hast crowned him with glory and honor. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet. O Lord, our Lord: how excellent is Thy name in all the earth! 4. PSALM 51. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy loving-kindness: according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence: and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation: and uphold me with Thy free Spirit. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise. 5. PSALM 16. Preserve me, O God: For in Thee do I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: I have no good beyond Thee; As for the saints that are in the earth, they are the excellent, In whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied That hasten after another God. Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take up their names into my lips. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly heritage. I have set the Lord always before me : Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall rest in hope. Fo Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; Neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life. In Thy presence is fullness of joy ; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for ever more. 6. PSALM 24. The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof the world, and they that dwell therein. For He hath founded it upon the seas: and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that bath clean hands, and a pure heart: who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord: and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek Him: that seek Thy face, O Jacob. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors: and the King of Glory shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors: and the King of Glory shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of Hosts, He is the King of Glory. 7. PSALM 145. xix I will extol Thee, My God, O King: and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless Thee: and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Thy works to another and shall declare Thy mighty acts. They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness: and sing of Thy righteousness. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion: slow to anger and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works. All Thy works shall praise Thee, O Lord, and Thy saints shall bless Thee. They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power: To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts; and the glorious majesty of His kingdom. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom: and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The Lord upholdeth all that fall; and raiseth up all those that are bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon Thee, and Thou givest them their meat in due sea son. Thou openest Thine hand: and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. 8. PSALM 67. God be merciful unto us and bless us; And cause His face to shine upon us. That Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy saving health among all nations. XX SUNDAY-SCHOOL SERVICES. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But His delight is in the law of the Lord : and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water: that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff that the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment: nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Their line is gone out through all the earth; and their words to the end of the world. In them hath He set a tabernacle for the sun; Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and His circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer. II. PSALM 34. I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me: and let us exalt His name together. The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him: and delivereth them. |
